The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder visits Manila to endorse local clothing brand

The Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder will be around for a week to shoot the upcoming campaign of local clothing brand Penshoppe, and to participate in a press conference in Manila.

Ian Somerhalder of the American TV series The Vampire Diaries is now mid-flight on his way to Manila.

The actor-model is coming to the country to be the newest addition to the roster of endorsers of a local clothing brand.

PR Asia Worldwide’s lead publicist, Joyce A. Ramirez, related this in an official statement: “We are pleased to confirm that actor Ian Somerhalder has accepted our offer and is now (officially) part of Penshoppe ‘All Stars.’”

“Ian is now enroute to Manila, Philippines, joining the all star cast of Team Penshoppe.”

Ian, who also appeared in the drama series titled Lost, will be around for a week to shoot his campaign at an environment-friendly resort, as well as participate in a press conference to be held in Manila.

Ramirez added in the statement, “Hopefully, Ian gets a chance to meet his adoring Filipino fans who have supported him in The Vampire Diaries for the last two top-rating seasons. Fans can also look forward to Ian visiting a flagship Penshoppe store.”

The popular TV star now joins a stellar list of leading men for the brand, including Ed Westwick,who plays Chuck Bass in the popular series Gossip Girl; Thai superstar Mario Maurer, who is now shooting his first Filipino film under Star Cinema called Suddenly It's Magic; and A-list Hollywood movie star Zac Efron, who recently appeared in the romantic movie The Lucky One.

Ian currently stars in the CW's The Vampire Diaries, opposite Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev. The show is returning for its third season in mid-September 2012.


He won the 2010 Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Villain for his portrayal of Damon Salvatore on the show.

The American actor is also well known for his role as 'Boone' on J.J. Abrams' critically acclaimed drama Lost from 2004 to 2010.

His performance on this show earned the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series from SAG Award in 2005.

Ian Somerhalder's endorsement stint is his first trip to the Philippines.
