In her recent anniversary concert titled Toni @ 10, which was staged last September 30, Toni Gonzaga announced that there will only be two "angels" in the next season of Pinoy Big Brother—ABS-CBN's reality show.
This is because Mariel Rodriguez already decided to move to TV5. The other hosts of the show are Toni and Bianca Gonzales.
When this news came out, there were showbiz articles saying that Toni was one of the reasons why Mariel wanted to leave ABS-CBN.
Also, according to the reports, Mariel and Toni allegedly had another misunderstanding.
The singer-actress-TV host, however, denied this.
"Hindi kasi ako makapagsalita. Definitely she has a reason.
"Hindi ko lang alam na kasama pala ako sa reason," Toni related to the media invited at the thanksgiving press conference for her anniversary concert held yesterday, October 6, at Don Henrico's restaurant on Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
She added, "Alam ko talaga 'yong ibang reasons why she came up with that decision."
Then, trying to change the topic, Toni jested, "Siguro she will hold her own presscon for that.
"Kasi, ang hirap naman na ako ang spokeperson ng lahat, ako ang magsalita nang magsalita."
The Happy Yipee Yehey! co-hostalso excused herself from making any further statements about her colleague's decision.
She explained, "Kasi, masyadong personal ang tungkol sa transition ng buhay niya.
"Basta kami naman, nakasuporta lang sa kanya.
"Nandito lang kami para i-greet siya ng well at suportahan ang decision niya."
When the press asked further about the alleged misunderstanding, Toni replied, "Na-clarify na namin niyan.
"Na-discuss ko na 'yan, e.
"Siguro tapos na 'yong side ko.
"Wala naman na akong issue.
"Ayaw ko nang magsalita."
Toni said she was just too busy preparing for her concert so she was not able to give attention to the issue, or even ask Mariel about her decision personally.
"In all honesty, kaya hindi ko siya mapagtuunan ng pansin noon.
"Kasi nga, ang nasa isip ko magbenta ng ticket para sa [concert sa] Araneta.
"Hindi ko mabigyan ng focus.
"At saka ayaw ko namang tanungin na, 'Uy, ano ba ang nangyari?'
"Ayaw ko na. Okay na 'yon.
"Kung anuman ang naging desisyon nila, susuportahan ko."
THE SHOW MUST GO ON. Meanwhile, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Toni about the reaction of the other Happy Yipee Yehey! hosts to Mariel's exit.
Toni said nothing will change in their noontime program.
"I think in any show, the show will always go on.
"I think in this business, kahit mawala ako, it will always go on," she stated.
Likewise, Pinoy Big Brother will not change despite losing Mariel as one of its hosts.
In fact, Toni said that next season of PBB, which might start by the end of this month, will be "bigger and grander."
"It's the grandest season ever. Exciting 'yon. 'Yon ang pinaghahandaan namin," she said.
