Did you know that Angelica Panganiban gave up eating rice at the age of 15?
Looking back, she said it was the pressure of looking good that made her abstain from the one thing she loves.
“And then, laging nako-compare ako sa ibang artists…”
If she were an ordinary teenage girl, her weight shouldn’t have been that much of a concern.
But she was one of the fast-rising teen stars of ABS-CBN then, and was making an effort to shed off her child-star image.
The Kapamilya actress stated, “Mas gusto ng tao yung mas sexy, mas payat, mas maganda [raw] kasing tignan kapag ganun.
“So nag-struggle ako…
So pati yung mga yun, nawala. Parang nakalimutan ko na yung lasa nila."
Peer pressure also made her face the sad reality: “Hindi ako blessed sa ganung part…”
Angelica was referring to her body type.
She continued, “Nung high school ako, dun ako naging conscious talaga. Payat sila ganun…
“Ako, hindi talaga.
“And siyempre, wala naman akong time na mag-work out nun kasi busy sa schedule, kumbaga may school ako, and then, nagwo-work na ‘ko, sabi ko, ‘Wala na talaga akong ano… Wala nang chance…”
For a time, she just relied on bananas—considered a “super food.”
According to lifescript.com, bananas “have two times as many carbohydrates as an apple, five times as much Vitamin A and iron, and three times as much phosphorus; in addition, bananas are also rich in potassium and natural sugars.”
The 25-year-old actress said, “Nagsa-saging lang ako para lang maka-survive ako. In fairness, pumayat ako. Pumayat talaga ako.”
Her low-carb diet, however, had a downside: “Nahihilo ako. Nanghihina ako. E, nagtatrabaho pa ako.”
Gradually, she added more food on her plate.
The result? “Tumataba pa rin ako.”
HELLO, RICE! In 2008, she gave up her seven-year no-rice policy. Some years later, she discovered Carb Trim—which she now endorses.
The lady spoke highly of the product that has the Phase 2 White Kidney Bean “blocking the absorption of carbs, up to 66%.”
According to Angelica, “Bina-block niya kasi yung carbs, yung hindi mo kakailanganin sa katawan mo, so, puwede kang kumain ng carbs.
According to Dr. Lourdes Genuino, Unilab medical affairs therapeutic category head, the result becomes evident after “two weeks.”
A study made by the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania claims it “works within 60 minutes of intake.”
But it only reduces “calories from starchy foods,” and not from “sugar and protein."
Part of its effects, “Nilalabas na niya yung hindi kailangan ng body mo.”
In the case of Angelica, “Sobrang bilis niya!”
And she’s glad that of late, people have started noticing her slimmer body, “Wow ang payat mo ngayon, ang sexy mo. Parang ang sarap ng feeling. So, wala, nakakatuwa talaga."
She revealed, “Nakipagbalikan ako sa kanin,”and this—she said, makes her “normal na ulit.”
