“Talagang everything happens for a reason and I am blessed that I have friends from everywhere now. Talagang no boundaries,” says Kimpoy Feliciano, a Pinoy who became popular because of social networking sites.
Kimpoy’s family migrated to New Zealand in 2008, when he was just 15 years old.
He relates, “It was very hard for me when my family decided to move to Dunedin. I had to leave everyone behind. When we left for Dunedin, it was one of the saddest days in my life."
Four years later, he got himself reconnected to the Philippines through Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube.
“Who would have known that because of that sadness, I would connect to more people in the Philippines?” shares Kimpoy, who is currently a second year Business Management student in University of Otago.
Kimpoy’s playfulness and friendliness have endeared him to the Netizens, who— according to social media analytic site klout.com— dubbed him as one of the “Most Influential Filipinos on Twitter."
He says, “It is really heartwarming to know that I have developed these friendships. Amazing po talaga how Internet can bridge the gaps between people from different locations.
“I really feel blessed to have everyone supporting me.”
Kimpoy also bagged the 2012 Globe Tatt Awards’ Thought Mover Award for his nuggets of wisdom, and was also awarded as number one YouTube Leader in the 4th Annual Shorty Awards, topping other local and international celebrities in New York, USA.
At present, he is working on his album for Universal Records.
But he clarifies, “I am really a dancer more than a singer... But I can also sing. Friends know I love to sing and dance.”
The guy who became part of New Zealand’s Miss Saigon cast will be in Manila for 10 days.
