After losing more than 50 pounds since his recent trip to France earlier this year, Billy Crawford has remained focused on his goal: to win the battle against the bulge.
Among the activities he added to his must-do list is triathlon.
At the Republic Wakepark in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna, held October 7, he joined the run-bike-run competition that drew around 560 competitors.
This included fellow celebrities like Matteo Guidicelli, Kim Atienza, Gab Valenciano, Erwan Heussaff, and Anthony Pangilinan.
“This is my very first triathlon, and I’m very proud to be part of it,” says the It’s Showtime host and RnB singer/dancer.
“It’s always good to push yourself and aim for harder challenges every time.”
After finishing the race in one hour and 41 minutes, Billy felt triumphant about his recent conquest.
“I never imagined that I’d be doing this,” he confessed.
“I’m now 155 lbs. I’ve lost 55 pounds, so far, and I can proudly say that I sport a 30-inch waistline.
"How can I not feel like a winner with all that?”
According to Billy, his penchant for triathlon all started in France, when he trained with a triathlete who joined the Ironman competition there.
Under the athlete's tutelage, Billy embarked on a rigorous gym workout supplemented with biking, swimming, and a healthy diet.
And unlike some celebs who resort to invasive surgical procedures, Billy chose to sweat it out the hard way.
“It’s all natural— no magic pills, no fancy gimmicks.
"Being in a tropical country, we’re blessed with an abundance of fruits and greens. We just have to be smart enough to know what to eat, and follow a workout regimen that fits our hectic lifestyle.”
Feeling even prouder for Billy’s success is longtime girlfriend, Nikki Gil, who actively cheered him on throughout the race.
Alongside Nikki was her bosom buddy Iya Villania, who came with her boyfriend Drew Arellano.
