Celebrities who are married to a non-showbiz person are most grateful when their partner understands their job.
Take Kapamilya actress Dimples Romana. She is thankful that her husband of nine years, Boyet, knows what she has had to do for work.
“Kailangan talaga sa artista ‘yong nakakaintindi ‘yong asawa mo, e,” Dimples told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview.
This happened during the surprise birthday party prepared for her recently by Dermaline, the skin care center she is currently endorsing.
To find out how understanding her husband is, PEP asked Dimples how her husband would react if she needs to do kissing scene with a fellow actor.
With regard to other aspects of being an actor, Dimples says there really is no problem with her husband.
“He lets me still stay acting kasi iba rin,” the 28-year-old celebrity mom said.
“Minsan niloloko na lang niya ako, ‘’Yan ba ang uwi ng matinong asawa?’
“Hindi lang madaling araw [ang uwi ko], umaga na.
“Noong huli kaming nag-taping sa A Beautiful Affair, umuwi ako 2 p.m. na the next day.
“Pero ako naman kasi masaya ako sa trabaho, e.
“Basta nakikita niyang masaya ako, masaya naman siya.”
LIKE A NORMAL COUPLE. Although Dimples has been living the celebrity life for years, the former teen actress still tries to keep her family life private.
In fact, Dimples said that she and her husband are no different from other normal couples.
“Matamis talaga. Minsan maanghang din kasi nag-aaway kami ng asawa ko,” she said.
Then, she quickly defended, “Pero normal ‘yon.
“I don’t think it will be healthy for a relationship, any marriage or any relationship, to not have conflicts at all, because then you will not have the opportunity to grow, kailangan ‘yan.”
While looking at her husband, who was on the other side of the room, Dimples laughed as she related to PEP, “Actually, kami ng asawa ko, medyo unconventional kami niyan dahil hindi kami niyang sweetie-sweetie.
“Alam ng lahat ‘yan, my gosh!
“Magkasakit na ang asawa ko kapag sinabi niyang 'I miss you', baka lagnatin siya!
“It works for us. He’s loyal to me, I’m loyal to him.”
MOMMY-WIFEY DUTIES. In spite of her busy schedule, Dimples does not forget her duties as wife to Boyet and mommy to their daughter Cal.
“As much as possible, when I have free time, I really try to do regular things that a mom would do para hindi rin magtampo sa akin ang pamilya ko, di ba?
“Para hindi ako pigilan! Baka kasi pigilan ako magtrabaho.”
Dimples entered the marriage when she was 19. But this did not stop her from pursuing her passion for acting.
When PEP asked if she finds it hard to juggle her time between family and work, the former Tabing Ilog star replied, “No, kasi nagagawa ko naman pareho.”
Dimples was just thankful that aside from her very understanding husband, her daughter has grown to girlhood.
“One of the main things na nagagawa ko ‘yong trabaho ko ngayon is because my child has really grown at hindi na masyadong mine-maintain.
“Ano na, e, may sarili na siyang…tingnan mo, hindi na nga niya ako masyadong pinapansin.
“Cal was never clingy. She always has that independence.”
While being focused on her work right now, Dimples swears she will never lose time for her family.
She stated, “Gusto kong maramdaman na kasama ko ang pamilya ko through success, through thick and thin magkasama kayo.
“Iba talaga kapag dumaan kayo sa hirap ‘tapos ginhawa, mas matamis.”
