The Pantone Color Institute, the world-renowned authority on color and provider of color systems, has flushed its official website with the color of the year.
The institute, headed by executive director Leatrice Eiseman, has picked emerald— a bluish green tint, also known in artistic terms as PANTONE 17-5641— as the color of 2013.
“Green is the most abundant hue in nature— the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Eiseman in an official press release.
“As it has throughout history, multifaceted Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate.
“Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world.
“This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”
Several international fashion labels, like Tracy Reese and Marimekko, have included the color in their upcoming Spring 2013 collections, which were debuted in various fashion week events in 2012.
And even some of our local celebrities have been seen sporting the color as early as last year.
