Whether you're a star or just an average bloke, the charm of Boracay Island never fails to entice.
Just the mere sight of its pristine white sand and clear water can already bring a sense of relaxation to weary souls.
And as if that weren't enough, the growing number of charming resorts and leisure haunts in the area makes it even more enticing to celebrities wanting to take a break from their busy work schedules.
For Brazilian-Japanese hottie Daniel Matsunaga, a trip to Boracay would never be complete without a stopover at his favorite hotel.
“I love staying at The Tides Hotel when I'm in Boracay," tells Daniel in a recent interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
“[I like it] because I feel like I’m home there.”
The boutique hotel, located at the heart of D'Mall Station 2, is owned by actress Iza Calzado, Tim Yap, and their other business partners.
It features modern interior design, spacious bedrooms, and other amenities.
It has its own restaurant called Ka-on, which serves what they call "progressive Filipino cuisine." Its menu was personally crafted by Pinoy MasterChef judge Chef Fernando Aracama.
BEACH PARTY. Vacationing for Daniel Matsunaga is all about having a good time.
When in Boracay, he likes to have fun hanging out at the beach and doing all sorts of water sports.
At the same time, he wants to relax and be comfortable in a place that just reminds him of home.
"I'm from Brazil, so I really like the beach," he says, which is why he loves to hang out at the hotel's Solstice Lounge.
"[It's] a roof deck pool where you can just sit, relax, and drink and you can see the whole of Boracay around you.
"It's a really good feeling, very relaxing," Daniel claims.
But his favorite spot in the hotel would have to be The Fitness Center at The Tides and the Surrender Day Spa.
Daniel says, "Of course, you know, even in Boracay— on vacation— I still have to... you know, take care of myself, my body.
"Of course, it is what I do— I'm a model and [I appear on] TV, so that's important for me.
"So, what I do when I'm there, I still workout, exercise.
"It's nice because they have a gym a The Tides, so I don't need to go far to have my workout."
