Shooting an entire teleserye in a luxury island beach resort definitely has its perks, but also has its downsides particularly in the aspect of beauty.
How does one simply manage to look camera-ready despite the courseness of living within the bounds of sun, sea, and sand?
Ritz Azul, Megan Young, and Malak So Shdifat— the young female stars of TV5's new series Misibis Bay— show PEP FAB the importance of stuffing the right contents inside their kikay kit.
RITZ AZUL. As the lead star of the show, making a lasting impression is highly important for Ritz Azul, which is why she likes to carry around a big bag to stash her stuff in.
Assorted makeup products take up most of the space in her bag.
Ritz admits she’s not an expert in beauty and styling on her own yet, but she is trying to learn by practicing.
She retouches her makeup using a variety of MAC powder foundation, contour powder, and bronzer to achieve a beach-tan look. But beneath all that makeup, she makes sure to prep her skin with Olay Moisturizing Cream to prevent it from drying under the heat.
Ritz also keeps the rest of her body protected from UV rays with Beach Hut Max SPF75++ spray-on sunblock. She also keeps herself hydrated by drinking lots of water and applying Physiogel Intensive Cream to prevent her skin from drying.
Drinking lots of water, of course, leads her to take several trips to the bathroom, which is why she always keeps within reach a bottle of Holy Seat toilet seat cleaner and a hand sanitizer.
Ritz also stays pleasant-smelling with a spritz of her favorite perfume, Bulgari Omnia Crystalline, and a gargling of mouthwash after meals.
She also doesn't leave her room without sunglasses.
MEGAN YOUNG. In true beach girl fashion, Megan Young keeps her tote bag light with only a few items to save her from common beauty emergencies.
A bottle of Johnson’s Baby Cologne keeps her smelling heavenly under the heat of the sun, while a pop-printed hairbrush comes handy when the island winds get too strong for her long hair.
Sunglasses, of course, are always a must-wear outdoors to protect the eyes from UV rays; and to save her skin from unwanted rashes, she always puts on some bug spray.
A pack of wet tissue also serves as her handy sanitizer.
Beauty-wise, Megan is pretty much low-maintenance. And when she walks around their beautiful set in Albay, she only brings a few makeup items for the requisite retouch.
Megan takes with her a bottle of Benetint lip and cheek tint from Benefit wherever she goes, also an eyebrow-eyeliner duo and Maybelline’s Volum Express The Falsies mascara so she can simply re-apply later on.
She also carries around a small canister of The Republic of Tea’s Get Smart red herbal red tea. This helps her improve her memory and focus, so she doesn’t get lost in the middle of memorizing and delivering her lines.
And yes, Megan also likes to collect mementos in her bag, to remind her of the fun memories and friendships she has begun creating with her fellow actors.
MALAK SO SHDIFAT. Petite beauty Malak So Shdifat also likes her things cute and pint-sized, so instead of lugging around a huge beach bag she opts for a tiny, furry purse.
Inside, Malak keeps her makeup essentials. She uses Benefit’s Dr. Feelgood invisible face balm as a primer, MAC’s Studio Sculpt foundation with SPF15 for sun exposure, and Shu Uemura’s Face Architect smoothening foundation.
To define her Palestinian eyes, she uses Benefit’s Bad Gal Lash mascara.
For a natural-looking blush, Malak uses Benefit’s Rio blusher, and dabs a layer of MAC Mineralize Skin Finish bronzer in Gold Deposit using an all-around blush brush for a glowing faux tan.
For her lips, she alternates a nude lipstick shade from MAC and a sweet cherry shade from Max Factor.
She stays fresh with Bath & Body Works Sweet Pea scent, and keeps her eyes protected with a pair of Ray Bans.
