As shoe brand endorsers, Luis Manzano, KC Concepcion, and Sam Milby all agree that when it comes to picking your shoes, comfort should always come first before style.

As a girl and as a celebrity, KC Concepcion— by default— falls under the category of shoe lover.

“I have a whole wall in my house that’s just dedicated to shoes,” she tells PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview held on June 6 at 7th High club lounge in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

“Everything, from stilettos to flats to just my little open-toe pumps, anything. My whole collection is just one big wall— built-in, walk-in shoe closet.”

The new ambassadress for SM Parisian shoes certainly loves her new styling partner.

Her favorite in the brand’s new line of ladies’ shoes is called the Edith shoes.

“They have a lot of architectural heels and they worked with some designers, young designers that make these designs.

“It’s comfortable to wear. You can go shopping, you can go on a date, you can do anything with these shoes ‘cause you can really walk on them.”

Comfort and style are two major considerations for KC when shopping for shoes.

Her best advice for shoe-shoppers: “Probably, you have to listen to your heart. You have to listen to what… kung ano iyong magpapa-tibok ng puso mo.

“You have to fall in love with the shoe, you have to fall in love with not just the color, not just the style, but how it looks on your foot because there are some shoes that are really very sexy to wear.”

Speaking of sexy shoes, KC also has a tip to avoid foot injuries when wearing sky-high heels.

“You know what, it really helps to exercise. It really helps to build your core.

“I really work hard on my tummy, my abs, because it’s really the center of your body; so it doesn’t just start at the foot, it starts in your core.

“That’s why I guess it’s called the core, it’s the center of balance that you have.

“Also, just… you know, avoid wearing something that’s too high and wear the right shoe size.”

KC’s good friend and colleague Luis Manzano also gave his two-cents on how to properly choose your shoes, and ultimately caring for your feet.

In the same event, the Kapamilya network’s go-to male host, was introduced as the new endorser of Salvatore Mann— SM’s line of dressy formal shoes for men.

As a new go-to person for men's style, Luis gave a few tips on shopping for the right pair of shoes.

He said, jokingly at first, “Bring money! That would be the best tip I could give you.

“But seriously, you have to be comfortable in [your shoes]. When the saleslady tells you to walk around in it, please do walk around in it.

“It may look like the best shoes on earth, the best pair, but once you walk around it and you’re uncomfortable…

“Could you imagine going to work feeling uncomfortable, your feet are hurting? Ang sama na ng trabaho mo the whole day.

“So, it’s pretty much the same thing. For example, if I feel uncomfortable with my pair of shoes and I’m hosting, galaw ka ng galaw, you’re not yourself. You lose your focus.

“So, if they ask you to walk around in it, make sure you’re comfortable. That’s the best thing. Make sure you’re comfortable with how it fits, how it feels, and make sure you’re comfortable with how it looks.

“Iyong standing apart with the mirror and everything, yes, you need to do that.”

Luis, who says he gets inspired by his dad Edu Manzano’s style, says that men should put priority in their footwear.

“I try to look sophisticated. Priority is comfort, but as much as possible, I wanna standout.

“My stylist, for example, he always says that I have really nice shoes. I have this thing for shoes, so for me, it’s really part of my lifestyle.

“You can wear an okay shirt, but the shoes, they have to stand out. That’s the way I see it.”

Sam Milby is another celebrity who takes pride in wearing good-looking, good-quality shoes.

He says he owns around 30 or more pairs, “I know it sounds like a lot for a guy, but in our line of work you do need all those.”

A variety of styles fill up the closet of this new endorser for Milanos— SM’s line of casual shoes for men.

“I never have just one style that I use, e. Like, summertime, I wear loafers, I wear iyong pang-summer talaga, e.

“When I perform, when I do concerts, I like to wear boots or mas rocker na look.

“And when I have events, a lot of times [I wear] dress shoes, kaya sobrang bagay iyong Milanos shoes sa akin because they have so many different options in their line.”

Versatility is Sam’s priority when shopping for shoes, but he also takes into consideration the perfect fit.

“For me, it should be shoes that fit you well. I mean, some people like to wear shoes na medyo mluwag, but in the end natatapilok sila.

“Find shoes that fits you well and comfortable or shoes that you could wear all day. I think that you can’t go wrong with that.”

CARING FOR YOUR SHOES. Aside from caring for your foot, the three new shoe brand ambassadors also have tips on how to properly care for your shoes.

KC says, “Definitely if it’s leather, you use the same things to polish and condition the shoe that you would use for your bags.

“Make sure that you don’t overdo it, you don’t overuse or abuse your shoes. Just like your body, just like your heart, you don’t want to misuse and abuse your shoes.”

For Luis, “Ako, with my shoe closet kasi I put the silica gel pa for the moisture.”

If you’ve ever wondered what those tiny sachets with a “DO NOT EAT” stamp inside your shoe boxes are, those are silica gels.

Do not throw them away as they help absorb moisture in your shoe storage, keeping your shoes fresh and clean.

Besides the gel packets, Luis also advises to keep the plastic shoe formers that come with your shoes.

“I put it inside para at least the leather doesn’t deform or wrinkle,” he says.

Finally, Sam reminds us to be more careful with how we treat our shoes.

“I think that some people don’t like to untie their shoes all the way, so they can just slip it off and slip it on, but it does wear on the shoes if you keep doing that, trying to force it on.

“And wash your shoes every now and then. Use the right chemicals and wash it right and check up on kung ano’ng masisira ng material ng shoes.”
