Travel is a staple in Bianca Gonzalez’s life.
During her launch as the endorser of Rexona last June 27, she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “Sa trabaho natin, kailangan may break. I also like having that time alone… ”
And guess what perennial souvenirs she gets from most of her trips here and abroad. “Tumbling” shots!
Bianca related the story behind her getting-famous cartwheel pose.
“Actually, I remember when I started it.
“I started it in Sydney, Australia with my sister. Pareho kaming nag-gymnastics kasi no’ng bata, so one time, my sister and I just said, ‘O, teka let’s do a parang tumbling shot and then someone should take it.'
“From there, every time I travel, that was maybe 2005… from then on, every time I travel, ‘yon, I take one in either may monument or merong landmark.
“‘Tapos naging fun na kasi, it’s unique…”
A few times, she had to get a little help from strangers.
“Oh my god, yes! Kasi, I travel alone a lot…”
And to make sure there's a high probability that the moment is captured, she scans the crowd first before picking the one who would take the shot.
“Through time, natutunan ko na that the trick is… di siyempre, kunwari you’re in a [crowded place], I don’t know if you noticed..."
Referring to the tumbling shots shown during the event, she resumed, "I had a photo by the pyramid, that was in Mexico, actually, in Teotihuacan. And I traveled there alone.
“Na-figure out ko na yung trick. Look around you, hanapin mo yung may DSLR, more likely than not, marunong silang mag-frame ng shot, so yun yung naging secret ko na.
“If you’re traveling alone, look for someone who looks like… yung observe ka, kita mo naman if someone just takes a picture o medyo umi-effort sa frame, di ba, so yun yung piliin mo.”
Some shots were taken in the middle of busy streets; others were taken with people looking at her stunt.
Smiling, Bianca said, “At the start, I was just nahihiya, kasi I’ve done it… you saw it kanina, in a busy intersection.
“At first, nakakahiya kasi tumatawid sila they’re going about their normal life ‘tapos e-emote ka dun.
“At first it was that. But then wala nang hiya-hiya…"
And for almost eight years now, many of the world's famous landmarks have figured prominently in her signature pose.
