Now on its 23rd year in the Philippines, the Disney On Ice international production brings back your favorite characters from Disney's cartoon fantasy flicks.
From Snow White to Tangled, witness a celebration of the first 50 movies from Disney's treasure chest of magical wonders.
Blake Tatroe of Feld Entertainment talked to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media on November 29, about what this year's show, aptly dubbed Treasure Chest, has to offer.
"Basically what we do is we kick off the show, we get everybody on their feet with the Toy Story gang, and we get the crowd moving and grooving and interactive with the performers and get them all pumped up.
"From there, we're gonna go through generations worth of stories—from kids now to you adults—and we're gonna share some of your favorite stories.
"You're gonna see everybody from Rapunzel in Tangled, all the way through Snow White, and all your favorite Disney Princesses.
"There's also male characters like Captain Hook and Peter Pan. Even Crock, who bit off Captain Hook's hand, is also featured in this show, which you've never seen before.
"From The Lion King, there's Timon, Pumbaa, Simba... we have a giant Pride Rock that comes on in the show.
"Aladdin and Jasmine will fly through the air in their magic carpet, so you guys are gonna see amazing theatrics all throughout this entire show.
"And my personal favorite is actually The Little Mermaid segment of the show, because we turn on the black lights on this one, and the costumes glow under the black light, so it's a theatrical phenomenon."
Preparations for the show have been intense and rigorous, says Blake, "all because we want to give our audience something spectacular and memorable."
Over 50 characters and 300 costumes will be featured in this year's show.
"We've got over 2,000 crystals on the costumes, so that's for the little girls who love princesses.
"And another cool trivia I just found out from the costume department is that they used 1,500 meters worth of zippers for this show. I don't even know who counted that!"
The show promises to be an unforgettable experience for the viewers, as some selected members of the audience will get the chance to interact with the performers.
"In Disney On Ice, we always strive to give you the best experience for your families.
"This year, we have two experiences that we give to selected members of the audience, who have been picked out prior to the show to participate in some of the performances.
"One of those is called the 'Rapunzel and Flynn Lantern Launch.'
"You'll see in the show that during the Tangled segment there's lanterns that are floating up in the celing, on the top of the platforms.
"What we do is Rapunzel and Flynn actually come out and they get to meet the child and they work with that child to actually launch the last lantern that goes into the ceiling.
"It's very beautiful and a very special experience for the children.
"The second one is called the 'Teacup Ride' during the Alice In Wonderland portion of the show.
"That's where we bring a group of selected kids out onto the ice, on a ride in this giant teacup, and they become part of that dance number, and they get to interact with the skaters."
A lot of new special features are bound to delight the audience this year, but what's even more wonderful is the fact that a portion of the proceeds of the show's ticket sales will go to the victims of the recent super typhoon Yolanda.
