The Cultural Center of the Philippines joins the world in celebrating Earth Day in various venues within the CCP complex on Sunday, April 13.
With the theme “Clean Air,” the event starts with a Fun Run at the CCP Complex at 6 A.M., followed by a program with performances by Ballet Philippines and ventriloquist Wanlu at the CCP Front Lawn at 7:30 A.M.
At 8 A.M., exhibits and fair will open, and visual artist Junyee will unveil his artwork consisting of 300 bamboo poles, to be erected on the front lawn, creating an artistic cluster of “windmills” that will transform the area into a place of wind movement.
At 9 A.M., a Yoga class will be conducted by the Gentle Warriors at the CCP Main Theater Lobby, as well as a ‘Chalk Art’ activity conducted by the Philippine Art Educators Association (PAEA) at the CCP Lagoon Driveway Area.
The Philippine Biochar conducts a workshop on using Biochar, Bokashi Balls, and Hering Agents at 9:30 A.M., at the CCP Ramp.
Then at 10 A.M., a dance class will be conducted by the Gentle Warriors at the CCP Main Theater Lobby, while Haribon Foundation conducts a guided tour on familiarization with trees at the CCP’s Liwasang Kalikasan.
At 10:30 A.M., Sipat Lawin Ensemble will conduct a storytelling for childres, while Haribon Foundation will screen the film Biodiversity on Wheels at the CCP Promenade.
At 11 A.M., a Kendo class will be conducted by Gentle Warriors at the CCP Main Theater Lobby, while the Bureau of Plant Industry conducts a grafting workshop at the CCP Ramp.
At 11:30am, ventriloquist Wanlu will stage his show Wanlu, Wan Earth, Wans More at the CCP Ramp.
The Gentle Warriors will conduct an arnis class at the CCP Main Theater Lobby at 12 P.M.
Other activities happening at the CCP Ramp in the afternoon include workshops and storytelling at 1:30 to 2 P.M.; a do-it-yourself demo on a makeshift "aircon"; as well as kite assembly and flying workshop by the Kite Association of the Philippines at 2:30 P.M.; and a performance by Mga Anak ni Inang Daigdig at 3 P.M.
At 4 P.M., the Kite Association of the Philippines will hold kite flying activities at the CCP’s Front Lawn, Ramp, and Promenade.
And, finally, at 5 P.M, a Drone Video/Camcording will be held at the CCP Ramp, and it will be followed by a culminating performance of Mga Anak ni Inang Daigdig at the CCP Ramp at 6:30 P.M.
Earth Day at the CCP is held in cooperation with Haribon Foundation, Kasibulan, Philippine Art Educators Association (PAEA), Foundation for Philippine Environment, Philippine Biochar, Bureau of Plant Industry, and Kite Association of the Philippines.
