In Valentino heels, Ruffa Gutierrez shares that she only shops for groceries once a month, stocking up on big packs for big savings.

"May Starbucks sa Angono?"

This was the opening line of Ruffa Gutierrez at the event of the SM and P&G at SM Center Angono, where she was greeted with loud cheers.

She borrowed the line from her film, Working Girls.

She was glad to be in Angono for the first time to join the launch of Wag Kang Titingi-Tingi, Buy BIG campaign. This encourages consumers to buy bigger packs of household items such as Ariel, Tide, Downy, and Joy to enjoy huge savings.

And here's more good news: Buy two and get the 2nd pack at 25 percent off if you buy Ariel and Tide at all SM SaveMore Markets, SM Supermarkets, and SM Hypermarkets nationwide.

BUDGET TIPS. Ruffa shared these tips to save more.

1. "When it comes to grocery shopping, I write everything down, and bumibili lang talaga ako in bulk.

2. "Dapat mag-grocery once a month para makatipid tayo.

"When you go to the grocery siyempre, dudukot ka, kasi even if you're not plannong to buy something... imposible that you won't buy something. You'll make dukot and you'll buy something," Ruffa said.

3. Big packs are the way to go.

"Yun talaga dapat natin i-praktis, na we buy more in big discounted packages so we save more.

"Mga mommies out there, huwag kayong titingi-tingi, kailangang bumili kayo ng mas malaking packages so you can save more.

"Kung bibili tayo ng sachets, akala mo kasi, nakakatipid ka kasi maliit siya, pero pag naubos na yun, pag cheap pa yung produkto, bibili na naman kayo ulit."

TEACHING HER DAUGHTERS. Debunking the perception that she is all glam and glitz, Ruffa says, "Para sa akin, importante talaga ang budget and time management.

"I work so hard to feed my kids. At the same time, kailangan maging happy din ako. Aasikasuhin ko yung bahay, kailangan may tamang calendar ka and scheduling."

She passes on her practical money skills to her two kids, Lorin and Venice.

"Para sa akin, they just can't go on shopping sprees."

She reveals that the two girls don't have the latest laptops or gadgets.

"Ipakita muna nila sa akin na mataas ang grades nila bago ako bumili ng malaking gift for them, at kailangan yung gift na yun, hindi lang yung basta-bastang gift, kailangan yung educational, na matututo rin sila at magagamit sa pag-aaral nila."

She tried to teach them the importance of working hard to get what they want.

"Gusto ko malaman nila that money doesn't grow on trees. Their mom is hardworking and does everything to put them in the best schools.

"So dapat i-value nila yung natutunan nila at i-save nila yung nakukuha nila."

What does she do when her kids bug her to buy them something, say an iPhone 6?

Laughing, she replied, "They've already asked me that 10 times so finally, si Lorin, binigyan ko ng iPhone 5, pero yung luma ko, nagrereklamo nga siya, lagi siyang namamatay!"

She gave in to Lorin because, "Para sa akin kasi since matalino naman si Lorin, maganda naman yung grades niya, nakikita kong responsible siya, kaya ko siya binigyan.

"Pero I always tell her na kailangan one hour or two hours a day lang yung gamit niya, kasi if not, nakatutok na siya doon, e.

"Mas importante sa akin talaga na they engage in sports."

SEASON 3 OF IT TAKES GUTZ. Talking about her reality show It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez, she reveals that season 3 is in the offing.

"Pinag-uusapan na namin, mga mid-next year.

"I am just so happy na napaka-successful nung family reality show namin. This is the first of its kind in Asia, so kumbaga, kami naging benchmark at trendsetter.

"So ngayon, marami nang gustong gumaya ng reality show katulad namin pero para sa amin, we're happy na tanggap kami ng mga tao at mas naintidihan nila kung sino talaga ang Gutierrez family."

Aside from the show, Ruffa shares the cover of Metro magazine (November issue) with her sister-in-law, Sarah Lahbati, who's married to Richard Gutierrez.

She lets us in on a little secret, "I send my alalays to the supermarket and they buy lahat, pinapakyaw nila lahat ng [magazine na] cover ako para laging sold out. Kaya tingnan niyo, lagi akong kino-cover.

She is confident the magazine will sell faster because of her strategy.

"I'm sure the issue will be sold out because I buy the magazines! 'Yan ang tinuturo ko kay Sarah. Sabi ko Sarah, 'Kailangan bumili ka ng sarili mong magazine para malakas ang benta,'" Ruffa said.
