Showbiz newbie Isabela David officially joined the roster of talents of VIVA on Tuesday afternoon, March 10.
The 13-year-old aspiring singer was accompanied by her father/character actor Roi Vinzon, who did over 45 movies under Viva Films.
Also present during the contract signing were Isabela's mom Jen David (left), VIVA’s top honcho Vic Del Rosario (second from right) and Veronique Del Rosario (right).
Admittedly a protective father, Roi advised his daughter to be wary of guys who have no qualms about breaking a teenage girl’s heart.
“Siyempre kinakabahan ako.
“Kabilin-bilinan ko sa kanya, yung mga nambobola diyan ‘wag niya muna masyadong pansinin.
“Basta diretso ka sa career,” said the Second Chances star in an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
Currently a first year high school student in St. Scholastica’s College, Isabela maintained that she’d rather focus on her studies and start a singing career than get into a relationship at an early age.
“It’s ok. Hindi naman ako interesado pagdating sa mga ganong bagay [entertaining suitors].
“I’m more on sa career, studies, yung makakabuti sa akin. Hindi ko pinapansin yung gano’ng bagay,” she stressed.
After the contract signing, Isabela showcased her talent by singing a few lines of Etta James’ “Something’s Got A Hold On Me.”
Then, she further shared that her interest in singing was probably influenced by her mom Jen, who was part of a band called "The Boss."
“Ten years old na po ako nung na-discover ng mama ko yung hilig ko sa pagkanta.
“Training lang galing sa mama ko yung na-apply ko,” said Isabela, whose musical influences include Amy Winehouse and Adelle.
Among the local artists, Isabela said that she idolizes Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo, who happens to be one of the prized talents of VIVA
Aside from singing, she’s also open to trying her luck in acting eventually.
“Kung makita po nila na marunong din ako umarte tatanggapin ko po yung chance na mag-act,” she beamed.
Given the chance, she would love to work with teen icons and fellow VIVA artists Nadine Lustre and James Reid.
As for her first project, Isabela said that she will start working on a music video anytime soon.
“Yes, yun po ang first ko na gagawin, gumawa ng MTV.
“Sobrang saya ko po kasi dito rin galing ang papa ko kaya alam ko [maganda] ang patutunguhan ng career ko kapag Viva ang naghawak sa akin,” she happily stated.
