Gretchen Ho aims for more defined abs this summer

Summer has officially started and people are now getting their bodies beach-ready, and the former Ateneo Blue Eagles volleyball player Gretchen Ho is no exemption.

Gretchen has been hitting the gym to prepare for the My Nestea Beach Fantasy Volleyball Match happening on May 1st and 2nd in Boracay.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the launch of My Nestea Beach in Makati City, Gretchen admits she wants a body as fit as that of an athlete.

To be precise, Gretchen wants to have more defined abs. And that is her goal this summer.

Gretchen tells the press, “Actually, ngayon ako nagkaroon ng goal kasi, yun nga, pa-summer na and gusto ko talaga magkaroon ng… although meron na akong abs pero gusto ko mas defined pa.

“And then, I want an athlete’s body, a really fit athlete’s body.

“Ayoko yung model, thin. Gusto ko yung fit na kundisyon.”

To stay fit, people take up weight lifting, running, yoga and zumba. What is Gretchen’s exercise routine?

The 24-year-old athlete-host answers, “I run a lot and then, I do squats.

"Actually, ang ginagawa ko kapag M-W-F, for example, that’s for weights. And T-Th is for core.

"So sinasalit-salit ko siya para hindi ako masyadong mapagod kasi hindi puwede yung everyday na weights, e.

“So sa gym, when I go there I run and then load my legs with squats.

"And then I do weights for my arms, so bicep, 'tapos yung sa likod.

“Basta may specific area, so lower body, upper body, and then core.”

Gretchen adds, “I try to exercise as much as I can pag may time.

“Sa umaga o ulit sa gabi o sa ano, sinisiksik ko talaga siya sa schedule.”

As for her diet, Gretchen tries to eat more healthy food to gain weight, and burn the extra calories through exercise.

“I do my best to eat as healthy as possible. Actually, ngayon kasi sabi nila sobrang payat ko daw, e.

“So I try to eat more and then exercise, kasi pag hindi ako masyado kumain, talagang nagsi-shrink yung katawan ko.

“So I just try to avoid bad food and try to eat more greens. Kasi yun yung kulang ko sa diet ko.

“So ngayon mas nagsasalad ako, and tina-try ko yung mga healthy options, kasi ang dami-daming sumusulpot ngayon.”
