Myrza Sison, editorial director of Cosmopolitan Philippines, tells every Cosmo reader that the more you know who you are and what you want, the greater your courage to face life’s surprises.

She says: “It takes courage to grow up and be who you are. If you are not afraid of people’s perception about who you are, there’s no limit to what you can do.”

Cosmopolitan Philippines, celebrates its 18th year with an al fresco party at Skye on the rooftop of W building on Bonifacio High Street, Taguig.

The event features inspirational life talks from the fun and fearless women of Cosmo to help Cosmo readers achieve their goals in life. (Philippine Entertainment Portal) lists the 12 things you can do to be fun and fearless:

1. Know yourself.

Ask yourself, what is my competitive advantage, what do I have the others don’t have?

Myrza says, “Maybe you are madaldal… you can do a lot of talking… on the things you would like to do.”

Self-realization is the key to self-conceptualization.

2. Know who you are and what you want to do.

Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the resistance and the mastery of fear.

It’s about self-help. If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.

3. Have life pegs.

Myrna recalls how she started her career, “Before, as a model, I have pegs.

"So what’s my competitive advantage? I chopped off my hair kasi walang may short hair noon.

"I remember, this top commercial agency called, they said, ‘Your problem is your short hair.’

"I said that’s not my problem. That’s my solution.

“Walang ibang may short hair so I got all the jobs when they needed a model who had short hair.”

So, who are your life’s pegs? Find them and be inspired.

4. "Join lang ng join."

It starts early when parents push their children to join all sorts of contests — drawing, singing, dancing, essay writing.

Myzra finds this encouraging, “The mantra of the mga bading, friends in the industry, before was join lang ng join, the rational was wala naman mawawala.

"So I took this hard and tried to apply it to all the opportunities that came my way later.

“Always remember if you join lang ng join, it will turn out to be the best thing you do in your life.”

You will have no regrets because each experience can enrich your life and make it well rounded, a surefire entry to your desired job.

5. Be fearless.

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s grit. If you are afraid, you will have less choices in life. If you are fearless, all the possibilities are within your reach.

Aim big. If your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.

6. Set goals and focus.

When you are focused, you are not distracted by negativity, hate, challenges and denials of life.

7. Be prepared.

They say a lot happens when preparation meets opportunity. But be prepared as well to walk away from it at all when necessary.

Do your best but be detached from the outcome lest you surrender your power to external circumstances. You can only control what you can do. Be above it all.

8. Don’t overthink.

Stop worrying about what people think. Think about your life, not theirs.

9. Ask for what you want.

Just act as if. Be EPAL—Enable to Pursue an Accepting Life.

10. Face your fears.

Travel in every direction of your fears. See the world. Bar all insane experiences wherever you are.

Have a sense of adventure and the confidence to take risks. Meet all kinds of people in all kinds of situations in every kind of culture and tradition.

You will learn to be compassionate, trust yourself more, and be less afraid.

11. Don’t look back.

Do your best and forget the past. Don’t beat yourself up for the mistakes you’ve made. Learn from them. Strive to have the most fun and fearless life that you could ever have.

12. Move out and live on your own as soon as you possibly can.

You will not be the same after you have tested your limit and discovered what you are you capable of.

Get out of your comfort zones and develop self-reliance.
