Kyline Alcantara always looks camera-ready.

However, things were not always that way for the GMA-7 teen star.

Last year, Kyline suffered from acne breakouts, sprinkling dots across her cheeks, forehead, and chin.

She opened up about her struggles in an Instagram post early today, October 7.

The Kapuso talent posted photos of her skin problem and wrote, "Yes, this happened to me. It started March last year, it started with one zit, and then it became two until I can’t count them anymore.

"Last quarter of last year, it got really worst—as in, they spread in my both cheeks."

Her self-esteem suffered a blow because of what happened.

The Inagaw Na Bituin star had become self-conscious since having a clear, flawless face is the standard of beauty among celebrities.

There were moments when she couldn't stop herself from crying.

In the same post, she continued, "Imagine people are always expecting you to be at your best, to look perfect, to look like the polished girl that they always see in TV and magazines, but you can’t even look at yourself in the mirror.

"There were times before na habang nag-aayos ako for showbiz commitment na bigla na lang ako naiiyak because at the back of my head 'how am I gonna face them?'"

Kyline's first instinct was to hide her skin imperfections using make-up, but she was bashed for putting too much on her face.

She continued, "I was judged, I was bashed and bullied for putting too much make-up (people telling me na ang kapal ng make-up mo pero puro ka pa din tigyawat) during that time but what they don’t know is make-up na lang yung kakampi ko noon.

"Concealers and foundations are my best friends because they cover my breakouts so I can come out and look more presentable.

"Caps and side hair are constant accessories, again, to cover my cheeks from my unwanted zits."

Aside from make-up, Kyline also tried different skin products.

"Tried different skin routine in hope na magiging okay ang breakouts ko but wala di din nag-effect."

It was only after Kyline sought the help of a specialist when she realized that putting on more make-up and trying different skin-care products can actually do more harm than good.

"One day, I consulted a specialist to help me with my condition and there she told me to stop all the things na ginagawa ko with my face.

"She told me na less is more. She told me na factor kung bakit ako nagkaroon ng breakouts were: puberty that affects my hormones and I have a very sensitive skin na nagrereact differently from the products that I used based dun sa mga napapanood ko na skin care routines sa YouTube.

"Meaning don’t expect na nagwork sa iba ay magwowork din sa’yo. It’s important to know na we have different skin types."

Getting so stressed out about it will only make the matter worse.

Hence, Kyline decided to post about her struggles with acne to remind those who are experiencing the same thing that life can never be too perfect all the time.

She wrote, "Why am I posting this? To tell you— yes, you! Who is having a hard time with your breakout, your excess weight, your unruly hair, your uneven skin, your bucky teeth, your stretch marks and scars na that’s okay.

"Don’t stress yourself over something to be perfect because it will not come. Accept your uniqueness and use it to your own advantage and represent yourself proudly thru it."

She added, "Yes, even us na artista madaming imperfections kagaya niyo, but as part of our job we need to look more presentable but it doesn’t mean na ganun palagi.

"We need the help also of our trusted glam teams to look presentable or what you call as 'glam.'"

Most of all, do not be too hard on yourself.

The GMA Artist Center talent wrote, "It’s okay to upgrade and to improve yourself but it’s very important na hindi dapat mawala yung sarili mo in the process of it.

"Don’t let the norm and society dictate what you should feel and look. Be your own unique you. Love the imperfectly perfect you.

"Have confidence and love yourself! For our Creator loves you! Yes, you, the unique you."

In a separate post, Kyline assured her fans that her skin is back to being flawless.

She also thanked her Instagram followers for their messages of support after she opened up about her skin problem.

"My skin is fine now. I surpassed the breakout stage, and if I can syempre ikaw din! Salamat sa lahat ng messages ninyo nakakataba ng puso. Mahal ko din kayong lahat."
