Kylie Padilla has a new business called Avaluna.
She started creating her beauty and bath essentials line after giving birth to eldest son Alas in 2017, the time when she developed an appreciation for self-care.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) through Yani Cardino of GMA Corporate Communications, Kylie revealed, "I wasn’t into skin care before giving birth to Alas, but I began appreciating it when I felt that it helps me not just physically but also mentally.
"I understood how important it is to give yourself some intentional quiet time. It became a sort of once a week treat that I enjoy at home.
"I don’t like being away from home too much especially with my two little ones at home."
This is why Avaluna is targeted to promote self-care and taking the time to treat oneself.
The celebrity mom said, "Our mission is to encourage more intentional self-care, to not only cater to your skin’s needs, but also your mental health, especially during these very stressful and challenging times."
AVALUNA BY KYLIE PADILLA
Why is it called Avaluna?
Kylie answered, "I’ve always liked that name. If I was going to have a baby girl, that’s what I would have named her.
"There is a deeper meaning to why I chose this name, but that will remain its own mystery."
So far, Avaluna by Kylie offers four products that are vegan, eco-friendly, and proudly Pinoy-made.
"We have two artisan bar soaps. The BB Skin bar soap promotes baby-soft skin. The Glow soap has lightening qualities.
"We have the 2-in-1 Body Scrub that is a scrub and a lotion in one. We did this because I personally don’t like scrubs that dry the skin.
"It exfoliates the skin and replaces it with moisturizing organic oils. It also has lightening effects for that afterglow.
"Lastly, we have the Healing Mask. It’s formulated to ease skin imperfections, it promotes younger youthful skin and leaves skin refreshing and glowing.
"All are formulated with lavender essential oils to promote that peaceful calming mood I want people to enjoy while using them."
Her favorite of the four products? The BB Skin Soap.
"All the products have their own specific purpose. I designed them that way. But my favorite of the soaps is the BB skin soap because I like the effect it has on my skin.
"My skin is baby soft the way I like it after I use it. I also love the Body Scrub, I love the scent. It always relaxes me.
"If you want the most relaxing experience, play some soothing music, light a candle and let the scrub do its magic."
BUSINESS IN THE TIME OF PANDEMIC
Kylie decided to keep her products at an affordable price so that more people can enjoy them.
Her artisanal soaps, the Glow Soap and the BB Skin Soap, are both PHP250.
Meanwhile, her Healing Clay Mask is only PHP399.
Her Luna Glow 2-in-1 Body Scrub is available for PHP499.
Kylie told PEP.ph, "I didn’t want them to be too expensive because I really wanted people to experience the products without hurting their pocket too much.
"If you buy them in a set, we have a discount until the end of June. They are also perfect gift ideas."
Kylie said her new business is enjoying a steady growth amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
"It’s actually doing okay. People want to invite peace and tranquility into their lives during this time.
"As someone who has suffered from mental health troubles in the past, I understand how important it is to be passionate about relaxation and working on your inner self."
But the Kapuso mom admitted that the business is not without its challenges.
"We had problems with delivering orders. We are finding it difficult to ship, but we hired our own rider to ease some of that difficulty.
"Of course, everyone’s safety is the top priority, so we ask for patience from our customers even if some orders take longer to deliver."
