Janna Dominguez promises glowing skin with new skin-care line

Janna Dominguez has finally achieved one of her biggest dreams: her own skin-care line.

Janna and her husband Mickey Ablan launched her beauty line called Skinfinite Beauty early last March, a few days before the community quarantine took effect in the country.

Janna and Mickey have been in the business for over a year.

They started with their Gabby's Instawhite Turmeric Miracle Cream, which was launched early in 2019.

Janna said the product was named after her youngest daughter, Gabby.

She explained, "I noticed that Gabby's ear was in a cupped-shape or as Filipinos would call it 'pasalo.'

"In Chinese superstitions, those with cupped-shape ears are believed to be lucky in business."

Janna further said it was her grandmother, Nanay Ester, who inspired her to make a turmeric-based facial cream to treat acne and lighten dark blemishes.

The 30-year-old actress related, "Every time I would have occasional allergies and other skin conditions, Nanay Ester would buy fresh luyang dilaw, also known as Turmeric, crush it then apply it on my skin.

"It worked every time. Ever since, this has been the family tradition when it comes to skin problems."

In December 2019, Janna decided to expand her business.

She said, "We started, to be exact, January sa pag-introduce and yung business planning.

"December pa lang ginagamit ko na sample products as trial or testing. Wala pang label, wala pang lalagyan, hubad pa, ika nga.

"Madami pinagdaanan hangga't ma-sure namin na yun na talaga ang gusto namin na effect and result.

"Di namin minadali kasi we want quality products."

STARTING UP

Janna has set up her business with plenty of help from Mickey, his mom Monina Ablan, and their business consultant Jen Cariño.

She said, "Very hands-on po kami to the point na para na kaming call center sa shifting.

"Morning shift si Mickey, ako naman sa gabi, and pitch naman ang business consultant namin na si Ma'am Jen sa tanghali.

"Kami nagpa-process sa product orders, sideline na din kami bilang kargador ng mga boxes.

"We also do product conceptualization, inventories, accounting, and dispatch ng products to our distributors nationwide."

She also added, "Sobrang naging busy din kaming lahat kahit nasa kanya-kanyang tahanan.

"As in nakakatulog na kami 6 a.m. and at most, 24 hours of no sleep talaga dahil working pa din.

"Though malapit lang naman sa house ang office and storage, as in five tumbling lang talaga!"

"Then gising agad to check on deliveries and pag-out ng products."

GLOWING, SOFT SKIN

Currently, Janna's skin-care line offers four products designed for all skin types.

The pioneer product has been rebranded as "Instawhite Miracle Cream with Turmeric and AHA."

According to Healthline.com, AHA or Alpha Hydroxy Acid are "water-soluble acids made from sugary fruits" which "help peel away the surface of your skin so that new, more evenly pigmented skin cells may generate and take their place."

Janna, who has been using the product as a night cream, told PEP.ph, "Meron siyang Instabright effect, and, usually, ginagawa ko siyang mask overnight."

She said it has kept her facial skin glowing and for one prone to acne, it dries pimples fast.

Janna also launched the "Anti-aging serum with Sparking Glass Skin and Botox Effect."

According to Janna, this serum gives the skin an "instant glass skin effect" and "reduces fine lines and moisturizes."

The couple also introduced the Turmeric Bleaching Soap, which also helps treat pimples and lighten melasma.

Lastly, Janna also curated the Skinfinite Beauty Renew Set consisting of Turmeric Bleaching Soap, Instawhite Night Cream, Sunblock, and Instawhite Toner.

She said, "Sa renew set namin, as in seven days makikita na agad visible results like yung glowing talaga, super lambot and clearer na skin, and lakas maka-renew ng face.

"It has micropeeling effects, kasi we want to promote healthy skin without over-exfoliating especially sa mga takot gumamit ng products na may 'bakbak effect' or 'snakeskin effect.'"

The Turmeric Bleaching Soap is priced at only PHP165. Meanwhile, the rest in the product line are uniformly priced at PHP350.

Janna said, "We have decided na gawin namin siyang affordable para lahat ma-experience talaga ang brand namin and maabot kaya ng lahat."

The television actress revealed that their small company encountered some challenges at the start of in their business.

She told PEP.ph, "Yung mga challenges na we've encountered po sa umpisa is yung pag-iisip ng product names, pricing, and marami pang iba.

"Pero basically sa product production, yung paghahanap ng raw materials and delivery ng products during lockdown.

"Major po talaga sa mga naging challenge sa aming lahat ito and buti nalang naging resourceful talaga lahat.

"And our manufacturer din nakipag-cooperate and nakapag-adjust din in terms of packaging."

The lockdown also has put an end to their future plans for the business.

Janna admitted she was disheartened at first but it didn't stop her from launching the products.

She said, "We launched our products in March, a week before the lockdown.

"We were supposed to have a soft launching event ng April, but it got canceled due to the pandemic.

"At first we all got discouraged sa nangyari, but because sa pagka-enthusiastic and sobrang parang naging family ko na mga business partners and distributors ko... nilaban namin lahat.

"They also guided us sa marketing planning from all over the country.

"Thank God, kahit pandemic hindi napigilan ang pag labas sa market.

Janna also announced, "This June 28, 2020, actually meron po kaming online launching, website launching, awarding, and thanksgiving event para sa mga distributors, business partners.

"And introduce din namin other plans for the business."

As of June, Janna said she already has 15 regional distributors.

"Lahat po nang mga distributors, we consider them as business partners na naging pamilya nadin ang turingan nang bawat isa.

"Naging malaki ang parte po nila para mabuild and maging stronger ang foundation nang Skinfinite Beauty.

"They also played a big role sa pagka hands-on nila in terms of social media presence, pagkuha nang mga shots nang products, mga puyatan blues sa pagsagot ng inquiries, pag-help maghanap ng mga couriers due to lockdowns na nahirapan for shipments, mga product suggestions.

"Weekly, we do online meetings for brainstorming, kamustahan, and updates.

"To sum it all, nakaka-blessed and super grateful beyond words.

"Lahat kami are very excited to see how will we grow, how will we able to discover new products, and witness the road to success of everyone.

"Lastly, we all fell in love with our new venture."
