Ryza Cenon surprised her followers on June 23, 2020, when she posted a photo of her new hairdo.
It's the shortest hair she has ever had.
In the comments section, her StarStruck 2 batchmate LJ Reyes quipped, "Pogi ng gf ko!!!"
Eula Valdes commented, "Ganda."
Meanwhile, some of her followers mistook her for South Korean actor Lee Min Ho.
That same day, she put out a photo with better lighting.
It turns out that her pregnancy is the culprit behind her "severe hairfall," which made her decide to try the Korean-idol look.
During her Facebook messenger chat with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on June 30, 2020, she said, “Dahil din po sa pagiging buntis ko dahil nag-hair fall po ako. Kapag naliligo po ako, ang dami talaga.”
According to Healthline.com, "Some women may experience hair thinning and shedding due to stress or shock. This condition is called telogen effluvium, and it affects a small number of women during pregnancy. The first trimester may stress the body as the balance of hormones shifts dramatically to support the growing baby."
Ryza actually planned on getting a more drastic hair makeover if she got pregnant.
"Plano ko naman po talaga, dati-dati pa. Sinabi ko sa sarili ko na kapag nabuntis ako, papakalbo 'ko.
"Papakalbo talaga 'ko, para wala nang intindihin."
She decided against it though because of her pending movie projects, Sa Muli and Kunwari Mahal Kita.
The Kapamilya actress continued, "Kaya lang hindi ako nakapagpakalbo dahil next year, gagawin ko ang mga pending kong movies. Kailangan mahaba, may continuity."
But for Ryza's maternity shoot, taking a cue from her social-media followers, her peg was "oppa," which means "older brother" in South Korea.
Smiling, she added, "Pero pambabae pa rin.”
