Even the flawless Lucy Torres has had "maskne" or acne breakouts caused by prolonged wearing of face masks, a common skin problem it seems during the pandemic.

The 46-year-old celebrity mom admitted to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in a recent e-mail interview, "I sometimes get breakouts because of wearing a mask too long in one day."

But then Lucy did not seem that much concerned as she has her own skin-care regimen that has worked for her and as proof, she is often bare-faced in her Instagram account.

The congresswoman told PEP.ph, "I think the lockdown was the best time for a reboot.

"I actually went bare, meaning for a long stretch of time I actually stopped all skin-care treatments just to make my skin really breathe and detox.

"Then I slowly reintroduced my skin-care regimen, observing carefully which ones were essential, and those I could well do without."

SKINCARE DISCOVERIES

In an Instagram post last March 31, 2021, Lucy said it has been a year since she had a facial with Dra. Vicky Belo because she's been taking care of her skin with her beauty finds.

Lucy starts her beauty ritual with a thorough facial massage following an old Chinese practice called Gua Sha, which involves "scraping the skin to relieve tension and boost blood circulation," according to Refinery29.com.

She massages her face using the Rose Quartz Beauty Restorer from Hayo'u Method. According to the brand's website, rose quartz helps "improve uneven or dull complexion and generate skin cell renewal."

Lucy also uses the brand's Jade Beauty Restorer, which is said to be "great for aging skin" to keep it glowing. Each beauty restorer is priced at GBP38 or around PHP2,550 on the brand's online shop.

To help boost her skin's collagen production, she uses SnailWhite Gold Facial Cream, which is available on Shopee and Lazada for PHP1,545.

IT STARTS FROM WITHIN

In addition to her beauty regimen, Lucy also said in the e-mail interview she has become even more conscious about her eating habits.

She told PEP.ph, "I became very mindful, too, of what I was eating.

"I realized more than ever that good skin can only really happen if you are also eating healthy and clean.

"It is a process though and shows results that although are not instant are also sensible and more sustainable."

Going deeper on the subject of skin care, Lucy expounded, "My takeaway is that whether it is a good or bad skin day what’s important is you understand your skin and its moods better, and you can be better friends.

"After all, your skin is but a reflection of your interior health.

"Personally, on a high fruit diet, and by managing stress levels, and keeping most things in balance skin can be at its best.

"No rocket science there and I cannot speak for all but that is what has worked for me."

As for a bit of beauty advice she recently shared with her daughter Juliana, Lucy said, "A healthy food intake, everything in moderation. No quick fixes. Sustainable, natural beauty always."
