StarStruck VII female survivor Shayne Sava revealed that she suffered from skin problems during her teenage years.

The Sparkle GMA Artist Center talent talked about her beauty journey in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last June 8, 2022, at the grand opening of Queen's Wellness and Beauty Center in Quezon City.

Shayne's manager Gio Anthony Medina is one of the business partners of beauty entrepreneur Mary Grace Juliano for the aesthetic center.

In her interview with PEP.ph, Shayne admitted that she had acne breakouts when she was around 16 years old which really affected her self-confidence.

She recalled, "Ay naku, kung makikita niyo lang po yung picture ko, as in puro... Halos tinadtad ako ng pimples. 'Tapos dito [left cheek], dito [right cheek], as in everywhere.

"Siguro po dahil sa hormones din. Hormonal imbalance kasi padalaga.

"Pero ayun po, grabe yung insecurity ko noon kasi siyempre, ano e, siyempre pag may pimples ka, medyo nakaka-down.

Fortunately, Shayne was able to get rid of her acne problems, thanks to her basic skincare regimen.

She said, "Na-overcome ko po talaga siya through skincare din."

Mary Grace, however, underscored the importance of expert advice from professionals when it comes to dealing with acne breakouts.

SHAYNE SAVA'S BEST SKINCARE ADVICE

But the most important—and probably most basic—skincare advice Mary Grace would like to share with Shayne and other Gen Zs is to start applying sunscreen to prevent sun damage.

Mary Grace said, "I think, kailangan meron lagi mag-apply ng SPF. Sobrang number one yung sunscreen. Yun ang pinaka-importante."

Shayne reiterated its importance and added, "Sobrang importante po kasi siyempre, before, hindi po naman po kasi ako pala-lagay ng sunscreen before ako mag-artist.

"Pero na-realize ko po na parang sobrang importante niya kasi... Lalo na yung sunscreen, lalo na kapag lalabas ka or yung ilaw, kasi nada-damage po yung skin mo e, ng parang pigmentation, mga ganun po.

"And of course, siyempre may mga acne scars po tayo. Mga acne na parang, 'Ano ba iyan? Hindi matanggal-tanggal.'

"Kaya for me po, kailangan po talaga na... sobrang importante ng skincare kasi it helps your skin to be healthy."

During the grand opening, Shayne (second from left) and Mary Grace (third from left) were joined by former Boyband PH member Tristan Ramirez (far left) and former Tawag ng Tanghalan contestants Shanne Gulle (third from right), Rachelle Laylo (second from right), and Mackie Empuerto (far right).
