“If you look good, you feel good," says 42-year-old mom Gelli de Belen.
She adds that being fit has a lot more benefits.
“Parang that’s one less thing to worry about—ang makita ang bilbil or mapatid ka o malaglag ka kasi di ka nakabalanse mga ganyan.
“Being happy with your weight, the way you look.
“It’s nice when you dress up. You feel confident when you are dressed up.
“Even wearing shorts, you feel confident.
"Wala kang tinatago even when sitting down, standing up, walking around."
Most importantly, she stresses, “Siyempre yung asawa mo, magbe-benefit!
“Para naman desirable pa rin sa hubby.
“Magbe-benefit na rin siya dun, aminin na natin yun."
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) right after her PEPtalk shoot, the still-slim and young-looking Gelli gives more beauty tips from head to toe.
HAIR. From long to short, black to blonde, straight to curly and vice versa, we've seen Gelli's hair transformations.
How does she take care of her crowning glory?
Gelli says, “Shampoo everyday kasi sa amin, talagang nangangarag yung hair with hair color, plantsa, and blower.
“May treatment ako that I put on my hair at least twice a week.
“Kahit anong treatment, ang dami diyan sa grocery. Basta nakalagay treatment, treatment, patulan!
“Don’t put on your anit, just put on the end kasi kung hindi, mafla-flat naman.”
FACE. Gelli says not all ladies need to apply facial creams, make-up or consult dermatologist to look beautiful.
“Yung disposisyon mo, dapat talaga hindi ka problemado sa buhay.
“Gumawa ka ng paraan, mag-asawa ka ng maayos, magkaroon ka ng anak, palakihin mo silang maayos, yung mga ganun.
“Gumawa ka ng paraan para maging masaya ang disposisyon ng buhay mo."
BODY. Though her body has always been slim, Gelli still makes sure she has time for workouts.
“Importante ang exercise.
"Sa gym dati, at least three times a week. Ngayon medyo tight yung schedule, twice a week na lang, pero talagang ideally, at least three times a week.
“Cardio lahat or yoga.
“Actually, yung mga ginagawa ko, yung mga pinapanood sa TV, nagda-download or kaya bumibili ako ng mga DVD.
“Basta cardio workout, galaw-galaw pinapatulan ko siya."
SKIN. To achieve a healthy skin, her advice is, “Find out what products work best for your skin.”
Her number one beauty must-have is "sun block" to protect her skin from getting damaged by the UV rays.
“Even just for going out, as in punta lang here, nagsa-sun block ako.
“Kapag naamoy lang ako ng sun, umiitim ako.
“I started wearing sunblock at the age of twenty, late 20s siguro.”
For her skin and face, her regimen starts “with a cleanser, a toner, pero sabi nila di naman daw gaano kailangan ng toner pero gusto ko.
“You put like an exfoliating something.
“Put ka ng moisturizer, importante 'yan lalo na sa gabi, and sa araw, kalimutan mo na ang lahat, huwag lang maghugas ng mukha, mag-toothbrush at mag-sunblock."
Did she ever use whitening products?
Gelli admits, “Oo, in fact, three years ago I underwent peeling kasi I changed dermatologist.
"Try lang para bago yung skin and in the process, puputi ka.
"Kasi nung una, reluctant ako na no, na ayoko na pumuti, natatakot ganyan.
"'Tapos nung natanggal yung ano, nagkaroon ng bagong skin, oh my god, puwede pala magmukhang ganito!
“Nakaka-fresh! I looked younger. At that time kasi, siyempre three years ago yun, hindi ko na inulit kasi it’s tedious e.
“Sabi ko, ‘Okay pala.’ Na-enjoy ko siya, inalagaan ko siya for about two years, now I am back to my skin color.”
FEET. Completing her head-to-toe regimen is a nice pedicure with foot massage.
She is not a big fan of foot spa though, "Ayaw ko ine-exfoliate yung mga kalyo ko kasi parang feeling ko, it makes it grow faster and faster.
“So sabi ko, deadma na and yung mga ano, maglalabas na sila ng kanilang mahiwagang pangkayod, no!
“I don’t like kasi parang lumalala yung mga kalyo.”
