When bleaching or coloring hair, most Pinays tend to forget the maintenance it entails.
It doesn't end with picking the color and getting the strands bleached.
To Saab Magalona, keeping it shiny and healthy is the bigger challenge.
It's been over a month since the singer/actress had her hair bleached twice to achieve the ash gray tone.
"I bleached and colored my hair at Matrix, the office. It's beside the L'Oreal Office in Ortigas. Dun kasi, it's a school e. I helped them before for the Cut for Cancer...
"I cut off eight inches of my hair and donated it to children with cancer, so they've been very grateful, and they really provide hair care for me."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with her at Coke Studio launch last Saturday night, July 29, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Saab underlined the need to visit the salon for retouch and treatment.
The 28-year-old star said, "I make sure to have a maintenance routine...
"So that's gonna be every two to three weeks, I get it retouched."
At home, she uses hydrating shampoo and conditioner to keep each strand moisturized.
She also uses a hair mask "at least once a week" to maintain the color and repair the damage.
"Kasi it was bleached twice, and it can get really dry so you have to be really careful.
"There's this hair mask I got from Matrix, I think it's called ColorLast."
Getting your hair bleached is very much like getting into a relationship. There's a commitment involved.
Saab elaborated, "You really have to make an effort kasi sabi nga ng hairstylist ko, their job is to grade.
"'Cause women go there to get their hair damaged a.k.a. bleaching, and they keep coming back to have it repaired.
"So if you want to color you hair, bleach it, you really have to really maintain it and commit.
"If I wanna keep this color, then I just have to keep going back."
