Pia Wurtzbach made her country proud when she won the crown on December 20, 2015.

After a spectacular homecoming, she spent 2016 performing her official duties in different parts of the world.

She supervised Red Cross relief efforts in Ecuador, showed support for the Sick Kids Foundation in Canada, and raised awareness about HIV/AIDS.

She also graced fashion shows, made TV appearances, and became a cultural ambassador of sorts for many of the countries she visited.

Pia did her job remarkably well, and Pinoys couldn't help but feel wistful during the last few days of her reign.

Based on her Instagram posts, it's safe to say that Pia was feeling the same.

In one such post, she shared that she had been sleeping with her sash and crown nights before she had to pass on the title to the next queen.

She was also busy attending exclusive parties, hosting events, and attending photo shoots.

Together with this year's crop of beauty queen hopefuls, she went around the country, raising awareness for different causes.

Her days as queen may have already come to an end, but it's clear that Pia is still having the time of her life.

In an interview with PEP.ph, Pia reveals that this whole journey has taught her to not take life too seriously, and to slow down and think of herself for a change.

"That's when I realized that there's really much more to life than just pageants," she says.

Pia may have already passed the crown on to someone else, but this isn't the end for her, and Pinoys can't wait to see what she'll do next.
