Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla and his bride Angelica Alita were both emotional during their Christian wedding at the picturesque Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California, on December 15 (Los Angeles time).
Pastor Peter Kairuz of 700 Club Philippines officiated at the ceremony.
Jolo was “excited, sobrang excited" before the bridal march.
He looked very relaxed while chatting with the wedding guests.
But the moment he saw Alita up to the part when he exchanged vows with his bride, Jolo became emotional.
He delivered his vows in tears, part of which were these lines, "Bebe, because of you and what you do, you made me a good man. Thank you for loving me...
"You made me realize that I don’t need to become someone else and pretend to be someone else. Tanggap mo kung sino at kung ano ako...
“Not all angels are in heaven, mine is here on earth, standing now in front of me, making sure my life would feel like I’m in heaven…forever.
"Basta kasama kita, saan man tayo pumunta, pakiramdam ko lagi akong nasa langit.
"I’ve never been so certain. Lagi na lang pabagu-bago ang isip ko sa mga bagay, pero sa iyo, sigurado ako."
At one point, Jolo's parents, Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. and Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, and some of his siblings started crying, too.
The young politician continued, “Akala ko noon, wala nang magmamahal sa akin. Akala ko wala nang mahuhulog at mai-in love sa akin.
"Pero napakabuti ng Diyos binigyan ako ng anghel na walang pakpak, at ikaw yun!
“I promise to be a good husband, good father to Gab, and to our future children.
“I promise to honor you, take care of you, and be with you for the rest of my life.”
Gab is Jolo's son with former girlfriend Grace Adriano, daughter of Rosanna Roces.
Tears also flowed when Angelica recited her vows, “You know it’s true what they say, you know he’s the one when you see him, you’ll just know. This day is valid proof that it’s true."
She went on recounting precious memories of their many times together, such as hiking in Hollywood until their knees hurt.
She ribbed Jolo for nagging her to accompany him to the gym even if she was still very sleepy. She joked about wearing gym clothes even when going to bed so she would be ready when Jolo would call her.
Angelica added, “I may appear strong to many, but you know my weaknesses, and I love you for that. Thank you for making it up for the things that I can’t."
She also promised to take care of her stepson, “I know Gab is a big part of your life, and I promise to God to love and care for him as my own.
"Today, I vow to know myself as you and you as myself.
“I promise to dream with you and be your biggest supporter, to encourage you, and to stand by you from this day forward.
“Jolo, hindi ka na iiyak mag-isa. At higit sa lahat, salamat sa Panginoon for directing you to me because now, I have finally found my heaven on earth with you and Gab by my side.
"Mahal na mahal ko kayo. Mahal na mahal kita."
The bride then expressed her gratitude to Jolo's parents, "Maraming salamat sa pagtanggap niyo sa akin.
"Ipinaramdam niyo sa akin na tanggap niyo sa ako sa pamilya."
Then she thanked her own parents, “Mama, thank you for teaching me how to love.
"Thank you for showing me how to be strong in very difficult life situations.
“Papa, thank you for guiding me since day one. Alam mo namang ikaw ang idol ko.
"You are my hero, you are my inspiration, and I am with Jolo now because of your guidance and inspiration.”
The couple had 16 pairs of principal sponsors. Those who flew from the Philippines to the U.S.were presidential daughter, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio; former Senator Jinggoy Estrada; Congressman Martin Romualdez; Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla; Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia Pineda; Jolo's aunts Councilor Rowena Bautista Mendiola, Mrs. Chaye Cabal-Revilla, Rebecca Bautista-Ocampo, and former Antipolo Mayor Junjun Ynares, husband of his Tita Andeng.
Angelica's bridal gown and Jolo's suit were both designed by Paul Cabral.
Jolo chose not to grant any interview on his wedding day.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), however had the chance to talk to the bride.
Angelica said, "I will keep on supporting Jolo sa gusto niyang gawin for everyone…sa mga taga- Cavite.
"Super workaholic siya. Yun ang isang bagay na hindi siya napapagod gawin…yung mag-serve para sa mga tao.
"Kasi alam mo yung kahit dalawang oras lang ang tulog niya, nakakaya niya talaga….wala siyang nararamdamang pagod.”
