Kathryn Bernardo said their family celebration of Christmas will be simple but merry as usual.

However, it will be a little sadder this year because they will be missing two members of their family, Kathryn revealed at the recent digital press conference of Lazada's 12.12 three-day sale.

The 24-year-old Kapamilya actress said, "Usually on Christmas we just stay at home, have dinner. For me kasi important na sama-sama kami buong family.

"But this year, it's a bit different. Kasi usually umuuwi yung sister ko from U.K. and then yung brother ko umalis din.

"So medyo iba yung set-up kasi hindi kami magkakasama physically, but hindi reason not to celebrate Christmas.

"Ang dami pa rin naming dapat ipagpasalamat this year. It's been difficult but we are blessed because we are safe.

"So simple lang, siguro dito lang kami sa bahay for Christmas."

Kathryn is currently staying with her parents Teddy and Min Bernardo, and her sister Chrysler together with her daughter Lhexine at their home in Quezon City.

Her older sister Kaye works as a nurse in the United Kingdom, while her brother Kevin is now based in Japan.

Kathryn also said everyone in her family has decided to skip their usual holiday getaway.

"The difference lang siguro sa previous Christmas namin was yung hindi kami magkakasama physically and, usually, umaalis kami, nagta-travel.

"But this time, hindi naman puwede umalis so better na lang to stay safe at home kahit very simple lang."

KATHRYN'S FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MEMORY

Asked what was her most memorable Christmas memory, Kathryn recalled, "Nung bata pa ako, yung pagpatak ng 12...

"Yun yung parang nagpapa-feel sa akin na, it's the Christmas spirit for me."

And so now, every Christmas, Kathryn said she loves playing the secret Santa to the younger members of their family, especially to her niece Lhexine.

KATHRYN'S WISH FOR 2021

As the end of 2020 nears, Kathryn hopes that people will start the coming year with a positive mind and leave the negativity in the past.

The Star Magic talent's wish for everyone and for herself is to have a more fruitful 2021.

She said, "Siguro for 2020, my wish not just for me but for everyone is to move forward.

"Whether you're running a business or meron kang pinagdaanan, iwan na natin yan sa 2020. And let's all claim it na 2021 will be a good year for everyone.
