Here are the celebrity weddings of 2020—showbiz couples who tied the knot in defiance of the pandemic scare and the ones who had the luck to get married ahead of the outbreak.
MEGAN YOUNG AND MIKAEL DAEZ
Megan Young and Mikael Daez got married twice in quick succession this year.
At their first wedding ceremony on January 10 in Calaruega Church in Nasugbu, Batangas, only ten people witnessed Megan and Mikael exchange I dos.
Their second wedding on January 25 at the San Roque Chapel in Subic, Zambales, was just as intimate as the first.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Megan and Mikael said it took them eight to ten months to plan their dream wedding.
In both ceremonies, they invited only their closest friends and family members who have been privy to their love story from the start of their long relationship.
Megan explained, "I guess, the important thing was our really, really close family members and friends who know about us and our relationship together.
"That was the deal. It’s an all-adult event, so no kids. We made sure na we wanted people to enjoy and not worry about the little ones."
JOYCE PRING AND JUANCHO TRIVIñO
Joyce Pring and Juancho Triviño were the second Kapuso stars to get married this year. The coupled had an intimate garden wedding ceremony on Sunday, February 9, at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City.
Joyce was a gorgeous bride in her store-bought wedding gown from the States designed by the French-Israeli designer Liz Martinez. She bought it at a bridal salon called Spina Bride in New York.
Juancho began courting Joyce in 2018. They officially became a couple on May 26, 2019. Three months later, on August 3, during their vacation on Boracay Island, Juancho proposed to Joyce.
The couple originally planned to get married at a venue in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, but they had to change their wedding location whenTaal Volcano erupted early this year, which affected nearby towns and provinces.
SARAH GERONIMO AND MATTEO GUIDICELLI
The wedding of Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli early this year made headlines as could be expected.
It became controversial when a bodyguard working for the Geronimo family went to the police with the allegation that Matteo had punched him for squealing to Sarah's mom, Divine, about the wedding.
Six years in a much-publicized relationship, Sarah and Matteo had gotten engaged in November 2019, but they kept it a secret for over a year.
SHEENA HALILI AND JERON MANZANERO
Their illustrous list of wedding guests led by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto included GMA-7 and ABS-CBN stars—Maine Mendoza, Chariz Solomon, Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Dennis Trillo, Camille Prats, Jennylyn Mercado, Regine Velasquez, Arjo Atayde, and Ria Atayde.
Sheena and Jeron met in 2017 on a blind date arranged by GMA Assistant Director Carlo Canu. As they got to know more about each other, they fell in love and got engaged on August 26, 2018.

Jay-R and Mica Javier
Jay-R and Mica Javier had an intimate wedding ceremony on March 1 at The Lind Hotel in Boracay.
In a previous interview with PEP.h, Jay-R said they wanted a beach wedding to start a new chapter in their lives as a couple.
He explained, "The only thing I don't like is everyone trying to outdo each other. It's not like they're doing it on purpose, pero parang ganun yung nangyayari, e.
"That's what it looks like on social media. So kami, we don't really want to fall into that. You know, just chill lang."
Among the wedding guests were the couple's closest celebrity friends—Kris Lawrence, Jaya, Jason Dy, KC Concepcion, Kylie Verzosa, Jake Cuenca, KC Montero, Coleen Garcia, and Billy Crawford.
Jay-R first confirmed to PEP.ph in November 2013 his relationship with Mica. They got engaged five years later, on October 21, 2018, while they were shooting a music video at Nobu Hotel in the City of Dreams Manila, Parañaque City.
Karen Gallman and Ian Garton
Karen Gallman and beau Ian Garton had a dreamy garden wedding on March 3 at the Stoneridge Estate in Queenstown, New Zealand. The 27-year-old beauty queen and Ian got engaged in June 2018 during her reign as Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental.
Carl John Barrameda and Nikolai Cimato
Former Goin' Bulilit star Carl John Barrameda married his non-showbiz girlfriend Nikolai Cimato on March 7 at a simple wedding ceremony at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Quezon City.
Carl was the first among former Goin' Bulilit cast members to get married. Among the wedding guests were his Goin' Bulilit batchmates—Miles Ocampo, John Manalo, Igiboy Flores, CJ Navato, and Alfred Alain.
Carl and Nikolai got engaged on February 19, 2019. They've been a couple for seven years before they tied the knot.
Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez
Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati were supposed to have a grand wedding on March 14, Saturday, at a luxury hotel in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
But on March 12, the couple announced the postponement of their wedding on account of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Three Philippine presidents—President Rodrigo Duterte, former Presidents Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Joseph Estrada—were supposed to attend the wedding.
Among the confirmed principal sponsors were three ABS-CBN executives, namely: president and CEO Carlo Lopez Katigbak, Chairman Mark Lopez, and Chief Operating Ofiicer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes.
GMA-7's Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon and his wife Teresa M. Gozon were also on the guest list.
The grand ceremony has been set for another date.
MARITONI FERNANDEZ AND MON DAYRIT
Maritoni Fernandez, 51, married her "forever" Mon Dayrit at a civil wedding ceremony at the Parañaque City Hall on July 7. In an Instagram post later that day, Maritoni wrote, "This is the day the Lord has made. After 51 years, I have found my forever. Today, I became Mrs. Dayrit!"
Fourth Solomon and Grizelle Gratela
Fourth uploaded on Instagram their wedding photos with this caption, "Simple and Memorable. Officially my wifey @grizellegratela"
He popped the question and Grizelle said yes in December 2019 with the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California, as their backdrop.

KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde
On October 8, KZ Tandingan and TJ Monterde revealed through their music video of the song "Can't Wait To Say I Do" they've been married for over a month.
The couple's garden wedding on August 28 at The Farm at San Benito in Lipa, Batangas strictly followed the pandemic protocols with only a handful of people in attendance. Many of their loved ones witnessed their wedding virtually through a video conference call.
BIANCA GUIDOTTI AND GREGGY SANTOS
Binibining Pilipinas International 2014 Bianca Guidotti and long-time boyfriend, Greggy Santos, had their civil wedding ceremony at home on October 11, with only their closest family members around.
Bianca and Greggy got engaged in December 2019. The pandemic thwarted their original plan to get married in church with everyone in their family and friends. They are pushing through with their church wedding at an opportune time.
Ina Feleo AND James GERVA
Talking to PEP.ph, Ina said she had always wanted a simple wedding with only their closest family and friends present.
She explained, "I want kung sino man nandoon, kung sino pinaka-[naging] supportive sa inyo, kung sino pinakanakakakilala sa inyo. Ang ganda, e.
"When I look around, I literally see them smiling for me. Iyong parang nararamdaman mo lahat. Hindi sila malayo.
"And then reception, nakakaikot ka talaga na nakakakuwentuhan mo. Nakakakuwentuhan ko asawa ko."
Following pandemic protocols, the rest of their loved ones, including Giacomo's family in Italy, witnessed their union via video call.
Bettina Carlos AND MIKKI EDUARDO
Bettina Carlos and Mikki Eduardo tied the knot on December 2 at Tagaytay Highlands, with Taal Volcano as backdrop. Bettina made her commitment to Mikki official last August 14, 2020. They got engaged on October 7, 2020.
Liz Uy AND RAYMOND RACAZA
In her article for The Philippine Star, where she wrote about her second pregnancy, Liz referred to Raymond as her husband.
She wrote, "Best of all, I have a husband who makes motherhood an even greater journey. There is love, and there is unconditional love that I share with Raymond and Xavi, and soon enough, with our second child."
At press time, Liz and Raymond have yet to reveal the details of their wedding.
Reports linking Liz and Raymond together gathered steam in March 2018. Five months later, in August 2018, Liz confirmed their relationship. On October 27, 2020, Liz revealed in an Instagram post that Raymond had proposed and she said yes.
