Raffy Tulfo was totally clueless when he walked into an intimate dinner at his home in Quezon City on March 13, 2021.
The TV5 broadcast journalist, who officially turned 61 on March 12, put out his YouTube vlog about the surprise celebration on March 20.
Raffy was blown away by the plantito theme.
He exclaimed, "Nasurprise talaga, maganda, maganda.
"Sabi ko last time na nagkaroon ako ng ganitong naattendan na set-up, yung Ernie Yu. Yun talaga, matindi, ano."
Ernie Yu, the president of Pagoda Philippines, celebrated his 80th birthday with a Gatsby-themed party at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Pasay City in August 2019.
Present, of course, was his family: his wife Jocelyn and their daughter Mar and her husband, Atty. Garreth Tungol.
In the video, Raffy did not forget to thank lifestyle consultant and celebrity shopper Aimee Hashim and her husband Joseph Amaranto for hosting the birthday dinner.
He said, "Thank you, thank you sa lahat... Si Aimee, at yung husband niya ang talagang may pakana nito. Kumbaga regalo niya sa akin."
Aimee, a good friend of Mar, also greeted her tito on Instagram.
On March 18, she wrote in her post, "I've always been in awe meeting people I work with. I never assert myself to anyone. My golden rule is, privacy is my utmost priority. I was shaking the entire time.
"@martulfo and I are sooo close so I know how nice everyone in their family is. Being welcomed in their private home (with swabbing for everyone prior of course) is a whole nother level for me.
"Thank you to mama idol @jocelyntulfo and papa idol @raffytulfoinaction for welcoming us warmly.
"They are so humble, trust me when I say this. A true story of humble beginnings and success without forgetting their roots.
"Happy birthday and our whole family loves you all. @jaytotheezzay"
