Today, January 30, is an emotional day for Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach who relinquished her crown earlier to Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere of France.

Pia was the third Filipina to win the Miss Universe title.

Her victory, in part, paved the way for the 65th Miss Universe grand competition to be held in Manila.

Here are four reasons why Pia will remain a queen in the hearts of Filipinos.

She defied the common notion about beauty queens being “perfect”

Pia epitomized Miss Universe’s message that “being you is enough.”

Throughout her reign, she was not shy about posting make up-free selfies or posting clips of her eating almost every item on Jollibee menu.

Pia constantly reminded us that she’s just like everybody else, and that's how she wants to be remembered.

She went beyond the glamorous part of her title.

From the very beginning, Pia wanted to make each of her actions as a beauty queen count.

She became committed to her advocacy of raising awareness on HIV and AIDS.

Every chance she had, she encouraged individuals to get themselves tested.

Her unapologetic love for the work she did for Miss Universe

More than fulfilling a lifelong dream, Pia donned the Miss Universe crown as a job of a lifetime.

With genuine delight, she declared, "I love my job!"

Her overflowing pride as a Filipina

Wherever she went, she did not just wear her sash as Miss Universe.

In a previous interview, she said, "It's not just my title that makes me proud, it's also the fact that I am Miss Philippines."

Thank you for being a wonderful Miss Universe, Pia!
