Kaya biro niya, “This is my ‘The One That Got Away.’ Char!”

The One That Got Away."

Sabi pa ni Joey sa kanyang post, “This is my ‘The One That Got Away.’ Char!”

Produkto si Joey ng The University of Mindanao-Main Campus, Davao City, at nagtapos bilang summa cum laude.

Nakapanayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Joey noong September 28 sa pamamagitan ng Facebook Messenger.

Aniya, “Sa October 19 pa po ang graduation namin, but since I passed all the academic requirements for my bachelor's degree, and our university is an autonomous university, we were allowed to take the licensure examination even before our graduation po.”

Kumuha si Joey ng Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BS MedTech).

“Honestly, at first, I am not aware if ano ba talaga ang trabaho ng medtech. Not until we started our class and doon ko nalaman na bloody din pala ito!

“We process different samples and perform various laboratory procedures to aid with the physician’s diagnosis and management of patient’s condition.”

“Kasi daw costly and hindi nila kayang suportahan. Mahirap lang kasi ang pamumuhay. My father was so angry that it came to the point that he punched me talaga!

“However, my mother was very supportive and so we take a risk at sumugal talaga.”

“My mother worked naman as kasambahay dito sa Davao kasi wala silang other choice.

“My parents' income from farming wasn’t enough to support our needs ng kakambal ko kaya doble pagsisikap sila.”

“Our father naman, sometimes nagpapadala for tuition fee, na kadalasan ay utang or hiram niya.

“I accepted the challenge kahit almost two months lang ang naging review.”

Naging pinakamalaking problema niya ang pambayad sa PHP 15,000 review payment, at iba pang gastusin.

“Second problem is health concerns. I have transient hypertension na kapag na-stress, nag-e-elevate ang blood pressure ko, and it’s quite alarming talaga.”

I experienced weight loss and suffered malnutrition.”

“I had hypertension attacks due to accumulated stress. I took the board exam with a nurse checking my blood pressure.”

NANGARAP MAGING TOPNOTCHER

“Most of the questions are out of nowhere. That is why after the exam, natakot talaga ako baka hindi ako makapasa.

“Sobrang hirap to the point na I just answered the questions without conviction. If ako lang, the exams are very difficult.”

Pagtatapat pa niya, pinangarap niya ang maging topnotcher.

“Oo naman po. I really hoped and prayed for it. This is my gift sana to my parents for all their sacrifices.

“Four years ago, I decided to ask God for this board examination. The first time I took step in college, that was also the first time I keep asking God for a topnotcher spot.”

“Hindi pa talaga nag-sink in sa akin until the next day. Hindi pa rin makapaniwala, but hopeful and thankful because this is what I’ve been praying for.”

“My future plans include continuing my masters, then Ph.D. or study medicine and become a full-fledged medical doctor.”

Ang payo niya sa mga kabataang nais magtagumpay kahit maraming pinagdaraanan, “Learn to love yourself, follow your goals and live your passion.
