Philippine bet Michelle Dee proudly flaunts Filipino fashion during the pre-pageant activities of Miss World 2019.
The daughter of Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez is among the 122 candidates competing for the title.
And already Michelle is one of the early standouts, thanks to her head-turning outfits crafted by Filipino designers and artisans.
Here's her fashion diary.
On November 21, Michelle wore a pink suit by Mikee Andrei on her way to London.
She changed into a suit by Nono Palmos on the first day of the pageant.
Its design, inspired by the Philippine flag, used a fabric handwoven by the Yakan weavers of Basilan, Sulu.
Miss World 2013 Megan Young dropped a comment on Instagram, "Love it."
On the first day of Miss World 2019 rehearsals, the Pinay beauty queen did layering in style.
Her elegant cape coat was perfect for the city's temperature of 12 degrees celsius.
Later that evening, she changed into another pantsuit for her first opera experience at the London Coliseum.
For the first round of the talent audition on November 24, Sunday, Michelle picked an immaculate white dress, which molded her figure.
It was a creation of Kannah Besino-Simbulan, by the way.
On November 25, Michelle and other Miss World 2019 candidates attended a charity gala night hosted by the Royal Order of the Water Rats, a London-based entertainment industry fraternity and charitable organization.
She wore this vibrant tangerine custom caped gown by Nat Manilag.
Michelle brought at least 50 outfits to the Miss World 2019 pageant.
For her wardrobe-related preparations, Michelle got some help from her mom Melanie, who talked to a lot of designers.
But the 23-year-old model had the final say.
During her send-off party on November 13, she told the press, "I really want to showcase my personality. I don't want to go to London not feeling like myself.
"I want to be confident in every aspect of it."
She collaborated with Francis Libiran for her national costume, which will be in gold, and for her evening gown, which is embellished with "exquisite" details showcasing its Pearl of the Orient Seas concept.
The other dresses and suits were from Rene Salud, Nono Palmos, Nat Manilag, Rhett Eala, Albert Andrada, Mikee Andrei, Naomi Ng, Kannah Simbulan, Debbie Co, Joseph Palma, Ivy Barrameda, JP Chua, AJ Aldeguer, Louis Pangilinan, Ador Feliciano, Chris Nick, and Jor-el Espina.
To complete her look, she picked accessories and jewelry pieces from MJorian by Marie Grace Reano, Christopher Munar, and Farah Abuh, who also designed some of the beauty queen's bags.
Michelle has sought the help of her go-to stylist Francis Chee.
To know more about Michelle's outfits, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) got in touch with Francis through direct message on Instagram.
Their main inspiration for Michelle's look is Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge.
The celebrity stylist explained (published as is), "The idea behind Michelle's OOTD is mixing the European style with Filipino Craftsmanship.
"We look at how Kate Middleton dress her self regally... She is stylish but still approachable and relatable."
Francis noted that Michelle has her personal style, which wasn't hard to merge with the look they were going for.
He told PEP.ph, "Having a Beauty Queen mom and growing up in the spotlight Michelle developed her own style.
"She knows what she wants and that made our collaboration easier.
"She's very creative and hands-on and it showed on her wardrobes."
Asked if they already prepared each OOTD (outfit of the day) until the pageant's grand coronation night, Francis said Michelle and his team have a daily discussion.
Francis said, "In preparing her clothes we took into consideration the requirements Miss World organization set.
"But still everyday we the whole team discuss the appropriate and the best look for Michelle's event that day."
Vanessa Ponce of Mexico will crown her successor at the pageant's grand coronation night on December 14 at the ExCeL London.
