Newlyweds Juliana Palermo and husband Joel Crabtree opted for practicality when it came to their wedding.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) via Zoom, the couple revealed they tied the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony held at Hotel Riu Dunamar in Costa Mujeres Beach, Cancun, Mexico last Thursday, August 26, 2021 (Friday, August 27, in the Philippines).
For her wedding gown, the bride decided to go online to hunt for the perfect dress.
She said, "Online lang, I just ordered it... I ordered so many gowns online and tried them on.
"And then, I decided that one kasi it's not too much of a bridal [gown], you know. And it's not very simple, but it's also not very pang-church wedding."
Juliana had many options, including gowns that ranged from PHP50,000 to PHP75,000. But in the end, it wasn't about the price.
She said, "It was ranging from PHP75K, 'tapos may PHP50K. 'Tapos alam mo, yung sinuot ko? PHP5K! Yun yung mga tinignan ko."
So Juliana walked down the aisle looking effortlessly beautiful in a lace wedding gown purchased at Amazon.com for USD100 or around PHP5,000.
It was all about finding the dress that made her feel like it was perfect for the big day.
She continued, "Yung pinaka-mahal na tinignan ko was PHP75K. Maganda talaga yun, but it didn't feel organic.
"And it didn't feel... In fact, I kept two gowns, yung tinago ko dito is like nasa mga USD1,100 so nasa PHP55,000.
"Tinago ko lang siya. In-order ko lang din yun online. Kasi para siyang pang-church wedding. So ayun, nag-settle ako sa tig-100 dollars na gown."
PEP.ph found the exact wedding dress on the website and it is currently priced at USD105.99 or PHP5,273.32.
The veil and accessories were also bought online for USD60 or around PHP3,000.
"And then yung veil and yung iba, siyempre sa iba ko na yun in-order."
Juliana completed her look with a pair of metallic heels from Jessica Simpson, which is priced at USD80 or around PHP3,980.
In total, her bridal look costs USD240 or PHP11,940.12.
Wedding planning was less stressful for Juliana and Joel since they availed themselves of a wedding package available at the hotel.
She said, "The hotel had a wedding package. So nag-avail kami... Sila na yung nag-set up nun sa garden."
According to the five-star hotel's website, their wedding packages range from USD1,499 or PHP74,601.48 to USD3,499 or PHP173,987.78.
Juliana and Joel had less than 20 guests, five of them are closest friends.
Their family members weren't able to join them at the ceremony since they only had a few weeks to prepare.
Juliana felt there was no need for a grand wedding.
She further explained, "We were just gonna get married with four people there because we didn't want to have a... It's so much pressure kasi like, when you tell people about your marriage, it has to be like this big of a deal, right?
"Like, everybody wants to make a big deal about it, 'Oh my god, when is the...?' So many things that you have to prepare.
"And it's not even preparing for yourselves. It's preparing it for the people. And like, with our relationship, we've kind of just done things our own way."
