The national costume competition remains one of the highly anticipated segments of the Miss Universe 2021 pageant.
On December 10, 2021 (December 11 Manila time), a total of 80 candidates from various countries around the world will be showcasing the richness of their culture as well as ingenuity of their designer through the national costume competition.
The pageant, which is currently being held in Eliat, Israel, has officially started its activities.
And some of the candidates have already unveiled on social media their stunning national costumes.

VIETNAM
Miss Universe Vietnam 2021 Nguyen Huynh Kim Duyen will wear a creation, which was dubbed "AI TÉT HÔNGGG?" which means "Who Should Hit Up?" according to Google Translate.
The inspiration of fashion designer Khoa Lo is the colorful traditional sticky rice cake from Kim Duyen’s hometown Bánh tét lá cam in in Can Tho, the fourth largest city in Vietnam.
CAMBODIA
Miss Universe Cambodia 2021 Ngin Marady's national costume is conceptualized and designed by Tek Kreong and Krom Kmeng Wat, and brought to life by Den Dano.
In an Instagram post, Ngin said it "represents Khmer ladies in the work of promoting Khmer cultural art through various theatre and dance styles."
THAILAND
Miss Universe Thailand 2021 Anchilee Scott-Kemmis' national costume is called "Woman of Steel," which took after the Southeast Asian country's version of boxing, Muay Thai.
It was designed byJaturon Raepech.
BRAZIL
Miss Universe Brazil 2021 Teresa Santos is captivating in her glittery red national costume designed by Bruno Oliveira.
The inspiration is the Brazilwood, a tree with orange-red wood where the country's name was derived.
It's was also Brazil's primary item for export trade in the 16th century.
NAMIBIA
Miss Universe Namibia 2021 Chelsi Shikongo looks gorgeous in her pink national costume called "Child of Salt and Soil."
Chelsi's costume is her ode to the beautiful hues of pink salt pans at her hometown in Walvis Bay, which is home to well-loved flamingos that symbolizes "beauty, balance, and grace."
A total of six artisans and designers—couture hat maker Bettina Thomas, Peya and Peyombili Walili Brock of Yashena Textile, Anna Ward Shilongo, Simeone Johannes, and Jolene Visser—teamed up to finish the creation.
GUATEMALA
Miss Universe Guatemala 2021 Dannia Guevara will wear a national costume made from recycled plastic and mannequins, which were sourced from second-hand stores.
Fashion designer Otto Mijangos sought inspiration from a Mayan goddess.
BOLIVIA
Miss Universe Bolivia 2021 Nahemi Uequin's national costume is made by Qhapaq Ñan Art. Cultura. The inspiration is her country's vast flora and fauna.
CROATIA
Miss Universe Croatia 2021 Ora Ivanisevic is a goddess in her eclectic blue national costume made by Lella Design Dubrovnik.
In an Instagram post, Ora says her national costume "represents the coastal part of Croatia and the beauty of the deep Adriatic Sea."
PUERTO RICO
Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2021 Michelle Colón pays tribute to African heritage with her national costume designed by Leonel Lirio and Luis Rivas.
Called "Protectora de Nuestras Costas” or "Protector of our Coasts," it aims to "raise awareness for the preservation of the environment."
Philippine bet Beatrice Luigi Gomez is yet to reveal her national costume for the Miss Universe 2021 pageant.
During Bea's send-off party last November 2021, Axel promised that his creation is "something that's unique, something that's evolved, and bright."
The 70th edition of Miss Universe pageant is all set to be held on December 12, 2021 (December 13 in the Philippines).
Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza of Mexico will crown her successor seven months after winning the title in May 2021.
