Filipino gowns take spotlight at Miss Universe 2021 grand coronation night

Aside from Philippine bet Beatrice Luigi Gomez looking like a goddess in her Francis Libiran gown, other beauty queens also rocked the Miss Universe 2021 stage in stunning Filipino creations.

Filipino designers had their moments in the spotlight, too, during the pageant's grand coronation night on Sunday evening, December 12, 2021 (December 13, in the Philippines), at the Universe Arena in Port of Eilat, Israel.

MISS PHILIPPINES

Bea's gold Francis Libiran gown during the Top 10 evening gown competition of the pageant featured the designer's signature art deco details and the "Pintados" print.

MISS USA

Elle Smith was sensational in her sparkly teal-colored Michael Cinco gown. In a short chat via Instagram's direct message, Michael confirmed to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he made the gown just for the American beauty queen/ journalist.

MISS SOUTH AFRICA

Miss Universe 2021 second runner-up Lalela Mswane of South Africa sashayed on stage looking posh and ritzy in a golden Ezra Santos couture creation.

Dubai-based designer Garimon Escandor Roferos created the fully crystallized gown of Miss The Bahamas' candidate Chantel O'brian.

MISS MALTA

Jade Cini of Malta didn't make it to the Top 16, but she looked every bit a winner in her fiery red gown made by Rian Fernandez.

Jade shared the inspiration behind her evening gown in an Instagram post after the competition and wrote, "I chose the colours of the Maltese flag to have a piece of home with me on stage tonight. Malta, it has been a pleasure to take you to the Universe with me and I'll be forever grateful [emoji]"

MISS MAURITIUS

Anne Murielle Ravina of Mauritius wore this dove gray gown Los Angeles-based fashion designer Carl Andrada during the pageant's grand coronation night.

Miss Great Britain Emma Collingridge wore her silver gown designed by Louis Pangilinan again during the pageant's grand coronation night.

Emma, however, wasn't able to showcase the gown for the second cut after failing to advance to the Top 10 of the pageant.

Aside from Emma, Miss Honduras Rose Meléndez and Miss Malta Jade Cino also wore Louis' creations during the evening gown preliminary competition last Friday night, December 10, 2021 (December 11, in the Philippines).

Other candidates spotted in Filipino-made gowns during the preliminaries were Miss Ukraine Anna Neplyakh in Ryan Apcioles and Miss Kenya Roshanara Ebrahim in Jian Lasala.
