Each candidate of Miss Universe Philippines 2022 gave a stellar performance during the pageant's preliminary competition held on Wednesday night, April 27, 2022, at Cove Manila in Pasay City.
All 32 ladies looked stunning, and 10 of them dazzled during the evening gown segment.
AKLAN
This emerald green couture gown of Aklanon beauty Jona Sweet showcased an intricate beadwork.
It was designed by Adriano Samar.
BAGUIO
Baguio's pride Ghenesis Latugat went for the glitzy old Hollywood glam.
Her red dress was designed by Leo Almodal.
BOHOL
Pauline Amelinckx looked regal in her bedazzled form-fitting gown made by Laguna-based designer Louis Pangilinan.
In an Instagram post, the designer revealed his inspiration behind the gown: "vibrant purple sky that cloaks the Philippines through the night."
CEBU CITY
Chantal Elise Schmidt veered away from the usual glittery gowns and opted for an all-black evening gown—a creation of Cebu-based fashion designer Edward James Castro.
CEBU PROVINCE
Morena beauty Lou Dominique Piczon glowed in her fuchsia pink gown by Mara Chua.
ILOILO CITY
Dorothy Gemillan flaunted her figure in this form-fitting and flowy gown by Carlo Simoy.
LAGUNA
Sonja Jeyn Tanyag looked regal in her golden gown by Chico Estiva.
MAKATI
Michelle Dee sought the help of fashion designer Francis Libiran for her Miss Universe Philippines 2022 gowns.
Her purple gown had Libiran's signature art deco aesthetic and linear patterns formed by iridescent beads and crystals.
Libiran also designed Michelle's gowns when she joined the Miss World pageant in 2019.
PASAY
Celeste Cortesi was a sight to behold in her immaculate white evening gown by fashion designer Val Taguba.
TAGUIG
Katrina Llegado was a head-turner in her scarlet red gown by fashion designer Pablo Mendez
Only 16 out of the 32 contestants of the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 will be chosen from the preliminary competition.
These candidates will be named during the pageant's grand coronation night happening on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Beatrice Luigi Gomez, who hails from Cebu City, will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Former Miss Universe titleholders Pia Wurtzbach, Iris Mittenaere, and Demi-Leigh Tebow will be hosting the pageant.
Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu is also in the country and will be sitting as one of the judges during the coronation night.
