It was Portuguese courtier Joao Rolo who approached Marian Rivera and asked if she would like to wear some of her designs. The actress agreed.

Portuguese designer Joao Rolo received an outpour of appreciation from Filipino fans after Marian Rivera wore his design at the premiere of The Unmarried Wife last November 15, in SM Megamall.

An accomplished designer in Portugal, Joao is happy about his sudden fame in the Philippines, which is 7,613 miles away from his country by air travel.

He posted a video on Instagram expressing his gratitude to the Filipinos.

In the caption, he wrote, "To recognize all the kindness and appreciation of my work from my dear @therealmarian and all her Fans, I leave here a video trying to talk Tagalog. Thank you all. JR"

In the video, he spoke in straight Tagalog.

"Magandang umaga, Pilipinas. Maraming-maraming salamat sa inyo."

A week after wearing his design, Marian wore another Joao creation to an event held yesterday, November 25.

Clad in a lilac wrap dress with a studded brooch, Marian was awarded as a Breastfeeding Influencer and Advocate by the Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines.
