Marian Rivera cooks "Menudo ni Nanay Ingkang" for COVID-19 frontliners

Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes personally prepared food for the health workers of Quezon City General Hospital.

On Wednesday, April 1, Marian posted on Instagram a video of her cooking a family recipe, the "menudo ni Nanay Ingkang."

The video was shot by Dingdong, who also helped pack the food.

In her post, Marian wrote: "Kitchen duties for our dear frontliners at the Quezon City General Hospital today who are sacrificing so much for us. Tonight’s meal for them is our family’s specialty— Menudo— a recipe that’s been passed on by my nanay."

The Kapuso actress calls her grandmother Iska "nanay."

Dingdong also shared the video in his Instagram account , writing: "Ang paborito naming Menudo ni Nanay Ingkang— aming munting handog sa mga Frontliners natin sa Quezon City General Hospital ngayong gabi."

He did not forget to thank the people who helped them in this project.

He wrote, "Maraming salamat sa inyong dedikasyon para sa kaligtasan naming lahat.

"Panalangin namin ang inyong kalakasan habang kinakaharap at tinatalo natin ang krisis na ito.

WIth the ongoing battle against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), all form of help really go a long way.

Marian and Dingdong also support Andrew's Fund, a fundraising project spearheaded by Caritas Manila with his Yes Pinoy! Foundation, which aims to provide food for marginalized families and frontliners, as well as employment opportunities for the youth.

Dingdong wrote in a post: "Last night, Andrew’s Fund PH also had a special dinner treat to some of our frontliners in Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH).

"We will continue to send a week-long food supply to QCGH, and to Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital and Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center."

These public hospitals serve the poorer communities.

On Thursday, April 2, Dingdong revealed that they have so far provided food packs for 1,800 families around Metro Manila.

The Descendants of the Sun actor said they have tried to distribute to a wide range of communities, from Payatas to Sampaloc, Malabon to Novaliches, Cubao to Antipolo.

He also mentioned the Stunt Association of the Philippines as beneficiaries.

He wrote: "1800 food packs are being distributed to families of daily minimum wage earners in Payatas, Smokey Mountain, District 5 of Quezon City, Maisan in Sampaloc Manila, Brgy. Longos in Malabon, members of the Stunt Association of the Philippines, and to communities of the Dioceses of Novaliches, Cubao and Antipolo. We hope to send another batch of support next week."

Acknowledged their donors, the navy reservist said: "Thank you to the Navy Reserve Command-NCR for packing the goods and bringing them to our drop-off centers, Doña Maria for the 3,600 kilos of rice, Ms Chesca Brillantes and team for the washable face masks, Paymaya, and to all our generous friends and donors!"
