It has been more than five years since Pauleen Luna last worked out.
According to the Eat Bulaga! mainstay, a recent "health scare" convinced her to lead a healthier life.
"After that, sabi ko, kailangan magkaroon ako kahit isang workout kahit ano man iyan," the mother of one tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the Aprica event on November 20.
"I need to find that certain workout that I really like, iyong nag-e-enjoy talaga ako. Kasi I'm always so bored. Sa gym, I'm bored. Sa ganyan, I’m bored. So ito, sobrang gusto ko siya."
Pauleen is presently into Pilates.
"The truth? Akala ko madali lang siya. It's not.
"Pero kasi, parang you do it at your own pace. Walang pressure pag nasa class ka na kailangan kasing-galing ka ng lahat, so na-e-enjoy ko siya talaga.
"And I think nga, I'm ready to add another one na medyo may cardio. Ang Pilates kasi, it makes you strong, pero wala siya talagang cardio kasama. Low impact lang.
"Parang ready na ako dagdagan. I wanna try cycling, spinning."
STAYING HEALTHY FOR THE FAMILY
Two months since she started doing Pilates, Pauleen says she feels "stronger."
She continues, "When my best friend gave birth a month ago, sira iyong elevator. Umaakyat ako ten floors.
"Hindi siya sumakit, so na-feel ko na may difference talaga. Kasi kung hindi ako nag-work out, hindi ako makakaakyat.
"It's fun. I really like it."
How has motherhood changed her perspective on health?
"A lot, especially when I got sick mid this year.
"Sabi ko, iba pala kapag iyong mommy nagkasakit. Parang wala nag-aalaga sa husband, wala nag-aalaga sa child. Alam mo iyon?
"Gusto ko gumaling ako, pero, at the same time, gusto ko alagaan sila. Mahirap.
"It's really hard na magkasakit ang mom. Kailangan talaga laging healthy."
She chooses not to elaborate on her recent health scare, but from what PEP.ph knows, she was hospitalized, and got her husband Vic worried.
Pauleen says everything is "all good" now.
Pauleen and Vic have a two-year-old daughter named Tali.
