How Pia Wurtzbach maintains va-va-voom body

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach keeps her body toned and healthy by sticking to a daily workout routine consisting of dumbbell exercises and cardio activities.

Apart from her global-beauty-queen status, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach's sexy physique is an achievement that many people want to emulate.

Her formula is simple.

She says, "Just proper diet and exercise.

"Basta hindi puwedeng may isang linggong lumipas na hindi ako magwu-workout.

"If I can do it daily, I would. If the schedule permits, I do it every day.

"I try to do it in the morning, so then it's out of the way and I can continue on with my day.

"If not, then I'll do a few times a week, but definitely, I try to do it."

Pia's routine consists of two types of exercises: the first part uses dumbbells, while the second part entails more cardio routines.

PIA DISPELS THE MUSCLE MYTH

She points out that contrary to popular belief, using dumbbells or weights can trim women's bodies rather than build muscle.

She elaborates, "I do a lot of weights. And a lot of women try to stay from weights or they do more cardio kasi, 'Naku, baka lumaki ako, maging macho ako,' ganyan.

"But that's not true. We're genetically not made to grow that big unless you try to alter something in yourself.

"Weights, and just a bit of cardio.

"So baliktad sa akin. More weights than cardio."

Pia exercises "an hour a day" when her schedule permits.

But as a health buff, she assures that working out just for 30 minutes is more than enough already to keep you fit.

Pushing yourself too far—with longer workouts, or lifting heavier weights—is definitely a no-no.

She details, "I try not to burn myself out.

"Kasi that's what happens if you do, hindi ka na babalik bukas kasi parang na-trauma mo iyong sarili mo sa isang araw.

"So try to do just 30 minutes. Iyong sakto lang na ma-e-excite ka pang bumalik the next day.

"Ganoon ang thinking mo dapat."

Based on all the years she's been working out, the beauty queen is also convinced that exercising is not just good for the body, but for the mind, too.

"It really helps. You think clearer, you feel better about yourself, and you just let out all the toxins in the body.

"Like there's so many health benefits," she articulates.

PIA'S DIET: "JUST HAVE EVERYTHING BALANCED"

Aside from shooting a new film with Senator Bong Revilla and strengthening her newly opened Bestea milk-tea business, sticking to a healthy diet is also part of Pia's goals this 2020.

"This year, I made a promise to myself it will be a year of health and fitness.

"So, I promised myself that I would eat more greens, eat more fruit—like anything that comes from the ground is perfect—and also drinking more water," she states.

Pia also clarifies that sticking to a healthy diet doesn't mean that you can't indulge in your favorite sweets or other guilty pleasures from time to time.

She continues, "Alam mo, basic lang naman siya, but we have to keep reminding ourselves to stick to it.

"Iyong food kasi dito sa Pilipinas, mahilig tayo mag-celebrate.

"'Pag mga Christmas party, ganyan, di ba? But just have everything balanced."
