Janine Gutierrez overcomes "tamad" days to work out during quarantine

When it comes to working out, Janine Gutierrez has a "new normal."

As the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) persists in the country, the 30-year-old Kapuso actress has been exercising at home and not at the gym, where she usually works out with a trainer.

In a Q&A live stream session on YouTube on Saturday, April 25, Janine tells fans that workouts help her maintain her positivity amid the enhanced community quarantine.

She says, "It helps me to stay positive—working out and iyong mapawisan ka and tumaas iyong heart rate mo."

Aware that staying at home has affected one's level of physical activity, she has never been diligent about doing her fitness routine.

Before, the Kapuso actress admitted to not being a fan of exercises. But these days, she feels the need to stretch.

"When this first started, my back was starting to hurt kasi nga nandito lang ako sa condo ko, and we don't get to work much.

"So ang motivation ko for working out is I need to stretch, and I need to get physical activities so that my body doesn't hurt.

"Kasi we're on our phones, on our laptops sa mga nawo-work from home, so it's bad for your posture. So it's important to stretch. That's one thing I've been trying to do."

Janine works out for 15 to 30 minutes every other day.

The Dragon Lady actress says, "Ang ginagawa ko kasi inaalala ko lang iyong workout na ginagawa ko dati sa gym, and then I try to copy it at home."

Most of the time, Janine sweats it out on her stationary bike.

She tells her viewers, "I bought a bike, a stationary bike. Kasi nga, I'm just in a condo and I don't have much space.

"So the bike really helps me stay active kahit papaano."

Clueless about the exercises you should do? Search for videos online.

Janine advises, "There are also a lot of workouts you can find on YouTube, just search for like '15-minute workouts.'

"Fifteen to thirty-minute workouts are enough if you're doing it every day.

"Puwede din naman twice a day kung gusto mo or masipag ka."

What if you don't feel motivated to move?

She says, "Actually, super tamad ako and there are days na wala akong motivation.

"I read online that a lot of us are actually experiencing grief now because of this community quarantine and for other people for bigger reasons.

"I think that there are days that you don't feel motivated and that's okay."

On a separate note, Janine has also been busy with her charity works in relation to COVID-19.

She also updates her fans by doing vlogs, which she posts on YouTube.
