Camille Prats, 35, is at her fitness best.
Camille does not consider herself “athletic,” but she has been working out daily for over a year now since the pandemic.
And her recent swimsuit photo on Instagram showing her leaner and well-toned body is proof that her “30-minute to one-hour fitness habit” has done her wonders.
The mother of three said in her YouTube vlog titled Our Fitness Journey:
“Ang dami nating oras ngayon. We really made sure nagwo-workout kami every day.”
CAMILLE’S FITNESS BUDDY
Meanwhile, Camille's husband of four years, VJ Yambao, deserves a pat in the back.
VJ has gone beyond “playing basketball to stay fit” to take on the role of Camille’s trainer as well.
Camille acknowledged, “We look after each other. We motivate each other.”
As his wife's fitness buddy, VJ, with the help of an app he downloaded, has come up with different sets of exercises for Camille's daily routine.
Camille’s workout staples are: “cardo with weights” for endurance, conditioning, weight training and ab exercises.
She underlined, “Do not forget to stretch.””
CAMILLE’S WORKOUT REQUISITES
Before the pandemic, Camille was into low-impact workouts, such as Barre 3 ballet and yoga, for “flexibility, toning, balance, strengthening.”
She was also into Pilates, which has helped relieve her back problem.
Then she started doing the following exercises, which her fans described as “ang hirap-hirap."
- Burpees- a squat thrust with an additional stand between reps
- Kettlebell swings- where you bend slightly at the knees but hinge mainly at the hips then you create momentum by pulling back the kettlebell between your legs.
- Lunges- where one leg is positioned forward with knee bent and foot flat on the ground, while the other leg is positioned behind.
- Weighted crunch- which is adding weight and slowing down your standard crunch
- Kick throughs- which is rotating your body and kicking your legs around We started out na very slow, no weights at all.
Here’s to give you an idea:
Camille told her YouTube fans, “I also do my workout in the morning with an empty stomach coz I feel like mas magaan mag-workout, at sabi nila mas effective daw yun so that’s what I’m also doing.”
As a precaution, she also stressed, “Form is really important.”
Hence, in the beginning, she and VJ worked with professional trainers who showed them how to do the exercises the right way.
The Kapuso host-actress said, “Puwede ka talagang ma-injure kung mali yung galaw mo o hawak mo.”
Camille has also made changes in her diet, “Malaking part talaga nun, not eating pork and beef.
"Nung pinalitan ko yung diet ko because my husband suggested na mag-chicken na lang kami o more of fish and seafood, I also noticed na parang hindi ganun ka-bloated yung feeling ko each and every time I eat.
"Parang mas madali siya sunugin at i-burn, at healthier also.”
She’s also into Intermittent fasting, which is defined by Healthline.com as “an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting.”
Camille only drinks black coffee for breakfast.
“Kape lang talaga ako sa umaga. I enjoy a cup of coffee. I don’t eat breakfast kasi I tried doing this intermittent fasting, and then nanotice ko, because of working out, e, medyo naglu-lose ako ng pounds,
“Tinuluy-tuloy ko na with my diet so triny ko ulit mag-IF, so that’s skipping breakfast.
“And I eat lunch time ‘tapos kape lang talaga sa umaga.”
For lunch, “I prefer eating more chicken, fish, maraming-maraming gulay. I still eat rice, hindi ko pinipigilan yung sarili kong kumain ng kanin…”
For dinner, instead of taking rice, "I usually change it to adlai, which is gluten-free and a great substitute to white rice.
On achieving her fitness goal, “It’s really a lot of work,” Camille admitted.
But the benefits outweigh the difiiculties.
Aside from achieving better health, Camille said, “It is easier to move around, mas mabilis kumilos, magbuhat ng mga gamit…"
