If you have been exercising and dieting but nothing seems to happen, Bubbles Paraiso has a suggestion, “Why don’t you change your mindset?”
Doing the same thing over and over again might lead to physical stress, which will not make you lose you weight.
At the launch of clothing brand Iora’s latest collection, she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), “Before, I would always diet and exercise.
“And what I learned is athletes eat and train.
“Omigosh, now, I eat things I never thought I’d eat.
“I’m a pescotarian. But if I wanna eat a whole block of chocolate, I can do it, and the next day, ripped pa rin ako.”
A pescotarian is a vegetarian who also eats aquatic animal protein.
Bubbles continued, “When I stopped obsessing about having a certain body type, and started to change my goal, that was when I got the result I wanted.”
So what exactly is her fitness goal now?
“It’s about training to be fast, training to be efficient, and then, the abs is just a bonus.”
Here are other things to note if you’re serious about leading a healthy lifestyle.
1. Look for buddies who can help you achieve your goal.
In Bubbles’s case, “I’m with a group. We’re all under the same coach, and I’m lucky that I train with the veterans.
“My motivation is actually, because I’m so inspired by them, they competed the full Ironman na.
“Most of them have been to Barcelona. Me, I’m such a newbie.
“It’s so inspiring. Lagi ko sila niloloko, ‘How to be you po?’”
2. It’s never too late to learn how to swim and bike.
Bubbles revealed, “I only learned how to swim and bike recently, and I just started running."
She continued, “Now I’m into triathlon. I did my first try last month, and I’m doing another one.
“The Ironman was my first bike relay, it was my 11th bike ride.
“The funny story is I was supposed to run but yung biker namin, nag-crashed. He crashed, he couldn’t bike anymore so my coach looked at me, ako, super newbie.
“Sabi niya lang, ‘Step up ka, ikaw na magba-bike.’”
3. Keep on stepping up and improving.
After her first ride, Bubbles thought, “Parang fun kung all three gawin ko—swim, bike, run.”
After the Ironman 70.3 in Cebu, she did her first in the Aboitiz Power ride last July 17.
Her next race is the Bellevue Resort 5i50 Traithlon in Panglao Island, Bohol, on November 6.
Bubbles has been monitoring her speed and performance.
“The faster I do it, the faster I’m done. It’s not the hours, it’s more the distance.”
4. Love what you do. Be happy when you do it.
“I can’t let go of yoga because I’m a yoga instructor, I’m a yogi.
“So besides teaching, I still have to do my practice. People might think medyo OA, but I love both.
“They really make me happy."
Her parting shot: “Now, it’s not just about feeling sexy. It’s feeling good and being strong.
“When I’m with my bike, sobrang saya-saya ko lang.
“When I’m doing my yoga, I’m at peace.”
