Sharon Cuneta on how she lost weight: "Pag ayaw ko yung food, hindi ko pipilitin kumain. Pag gusto ko yung food, titikim ako. 'Tapos pag wala akong maisip, magsa-salad ako."

Sharon Cuneta shows off her slimmer figure via a photo she posted on her official Facebook fan page yesterday, December 17.

It was taken while the Kapamilya star was preparing for Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids VTR shoot with Ogie Alcasid and Gary Valenciano.

The Megastar was happy to say that the photo was unedited.

She wrote: "Earlier today in AbsCbn for pictorials and VTRs with Gary V. and Ogie A. For Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids. Mag-uumpisa na po sa Jan 7 and 8, 2017.

"(This is an unretouched, unedited Photo, ok?)"

In an interview with Boy Abunda last September, Sharon recalled what made her decide to lose weight.

The 50-year-old actress said she felt "humiliated" after watching herself in an episode of the Kapamilya network's Sunday variety show ASAP.

Sharon told Boy, "I did what I had to do kasi nung napanood ko iyong sarili ko sa birthday special ng ASAP for me, they gave me a very beautiful tribute and then I went home, pinanood ko, I was shocked.


"I was humiliated, I felt small. I never let whatever physical obstacles there were that I had been carrying on my back, I never let those define me, e.

"'Tapos nahiya ako sa mga Sharonians ko.

"As an actress, you're supposed to keep yourself looking like a leading lady and, apparently, I had really crossed the line. And that was a real wake-up call."

In a span of nine months, Sharon lost around 60 pounds.

But getting rid of the unwanted fats was not that easy.

In an interview with (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press last October, the actress/host admitted that she went through liposuction to lose weight, but it did not have a long-term effect.

"To lose sixty something pounds in a span of nine months, lipo will not do that for you. So nag-lipo na ako noon, it just changed the landscape of my body, it did not help me. I still had a big tummy."


The Kapamilya star also tried several diet plans to help her lose weight.

"I used to go on crash diets. I did the Scarsdale Medical diet. I would still do it every now and then, admittedly.

"For the longest, I did the Cohen diet, on an off. That's what made me lose fast. Ang nakakatakot is the rebound because both diets are kinda similar.

"I did the South Beach diet a long time ago, yun medyo matagal bago bumalik yung weight.

"Pero wala na yung nagsu-supply sa akin noon nung South Beach e siya yung pinakamasarap na gusto ko, yung food niya."

What worked for her? Eating it in small portions.

Sharon said, "Whatever I want to eat, kakainin ko konti pero tikim, parang pika-pika. Feeling ko nagta-tapas ako sa Spain.

"But I will eat kunyare, I like grapes, I'll just eat grapes para mapuno.

"And then, for my sweet tooth, I will not deprive myself. Kunyare I'll have a piece of cake but not the whole slice.


"Ang na-realize ko, hindi naman pala kailangan isang bandehado yung ubusin mo para makatikim ka ng Paella, puwede naman palang isang platito.

"Pag ayaw ko yung food, hindi ko pipilitin kumain. Pag gusto ko yung food, titikim ako. 'Tapos pag wala akong maisip, magsa-salad ako."
