Iya Villania has comfortably settled into her role as a new mom to Baby Primo. She says, "Being with him throughout the day is very easy."

Iya Villania does not consider herself an athlete.

The lady who won gold in her very first triathlon event in November 2014 and placed third in her first Olympic distance triathlon in March 2015 calls herself "athlete-athletan lang."

But the Kapuso host is no doubt a fitness buff.

In fact, when she prepared her maternity kit last year, she included a lot of exercise paraphernalia.

Exactly six months after giving birth, she started going back to the gym.

You'll be surprised however about her motivation.

"I was working out not because I was trying to trim down, but because it just made me happy," she tells PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal at the launch of Nike Training Club (NTC) classes in Kerry Sports Manila.

Besides, "I kept on eating" because of breastfeeding.

Was it breastfeeding that helped her lose weight?

"I don't know how it is actually helping me lose weight, people say you burn around 500 calories when you breastfeed.

"But for me, I don't count those, as long as my heart is not being pumped.

"If hindi high heart rate, feeling ko hindi nagka-count!"

She considers herself lucky for having a supportive and hands-on husband "would take the baby when I would get stressed, and take the baby when I wanna squeeze in a workout."

When asked if she experienced any postpartum blues, she answers, "Maybe very light, only because I was trying to do everything in the early days.

"Napagod ako, napuyat ako, so I was losing patience.

"I was getting emotional for the first two weeks."

Again, thanks to Drew for being there for her, for giving her "a lot of hugs, a lot of kisses."

In fact, despite the adjustment she had to go through and the lack of sleep, she happil asked her husband for "Baby # 2" when they celebrated their third wedding last January 31.

She also thanked her mommy friends.

"Eventually, people would just remind me, 'Iya isipin mo nalang, two months lang siya magiging newborn after that mami-miss mo mga times na hindi pa siya gumagalaw.'

"And I just had to remember that and keep in mind that every day would be a day closer to getting longer sleep!"
