Stars taking a break to savor "buhay probinsiya"

For all the trappings of their celebrityhood, some stars continue to be lured to the simple life away from the limelight.

So whenever they can, they escape to the serenity of their childhood homes in the provinces.

Ejay Falcon, for example. For 10 years now, it has been his tradition to end the year in Bacawan, Pola, in Oriental Mindoro.

He distributes gifts to his townmates and holds an annual basketball paliga.

Ejay related to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) contributor Gorgy Rula in an interview his plan to retire in Bacawan. In fact, he already bought a house and lot there.

The 30-year-old Kapamilya actor said, "Dun ko naman po talaga nakikita, e. Kaya nga dun po ako bumibili ng mga properties, maliliit na investment.

"Naging inspirasyon ko po kasi talaga yung lugar. Dun ako lumaki, at kung nasaan man ako ngayon, e, alam kong dahil dun sa pinagdaanan ko sa buhay ko dati.

"Kung bakit ganito ako mag-isip, yung may direksiyon. Masasabi kong nagkaroon ng direksyon yung buhay ko kasi marami akong karanasan dun.

"Mga experience ko na bitbit ko. Kaya nga siguro umiiwas ako sa mga gulo o bisyo kasi nakita ko kung papano ang buhay ng tao dun at yung values nila dala dala ko po."

Zanjoe Marudo has built a haven in Tanauan, Batangas, his hometown.

In another interview with PEP.ph, he said, "Medyo ano modern siya, modern yung ginawa ko kasi nga nasa bundok na siya, e, nasa bukid na siya so mukha siyang probinsya.

"So nilagay ko, kinontrast ko siya. Naglagay ako ng maliit na modern house sa gitna ng bukid.

"Kasi pag ginawa ko siyang parang kubo rin, parang typical."

Gwen Zamora and David Semerad recently discovered the bounty and beauty of farm life.

Their kubo in Batangas lets them enjoy "simplicity at its finest."

They also like joyrides in motorcycles and in David's new farm toy, a Tomahawk ATV (all-terrain vehicle).

Shamcey Supsup Lee, architect and former beauty queen, grew up in a farm in General Santos with her dad Timoteo Supsup.

On January 6, Shamcey visited her hometown to savor a life "back to basics."

Melai Cantiveros was born and raised in General Santos City, but she spent a part of her growing-up years with her grandparents in Bohol.

A week ago, she posted a photo of her daughters, Stela and Mela, with their lolo in what seemed like a cottage.

Nadine Samonte gets her dose of "farm life" from her mother-in-law Isabel Rivas's farm in Zambales.

On Instagram, the mother of two posts a photo of her cooking fresh veggies. She writes, "Bili na po kayo. mura lang hehe oh kaya kahit kuha na lang po kayo ok lang po."
