After months of waiting, Bea Alonzo is glad she can resume her regular workout now that the construction of her home gym is finally finished.
Beginning February 2021, the 33-year-old actress had the family room on the third floor converted into a fully functional home gym, which Bea showed in her vlog uploaded on YouTube last May 22, 2021.
The gym was designed Bea's good friend Jeizele delos Reyes-Go, who also did the interiors of her home.
Where before the room had comfy sofas for family bonding and watching movies, now it has gym equipment for Bea's workout routines.
A prominent feature of her home gym is the neon sign posted at the entrance of the room that says, "one day at a time."
Bea said in her vlog, "Para sa akin, lagi akong bumabalik diyan because I am an overthinker and sometimes, it gives me anxiety to think about what's going to happen in the future, magagawa ko ba or hindi, may output ba or hindi.
"But ito talaga yung quote na lagi kong binabalik-balikan. Kahit hindi mo pa nakikita yung output, you should always take it one day at a time because eventually, you will get there.
"It also applies to working out that's why I put it here."
Following the suggestion of her fitness coach, Jay Garcia, Bea only has gym equipment that are essential to her exercise routines. These include a multi-functional squat machine, a set of weighted exercise balls, some kettlebells and dumbbells for her free weight exercises.
She said, "Wala akong masyadong in-add equipment-wise kasi si Coach Jay, my trainer, told me na you really don't need too much."
There's also a rowing machine, which she borrowed from SaddleRow PH.
Treadmill and the stationary bike for her cardio workouts, and a red punching bag for her boxing workout.
Bea has kept the room's kitchenette intact, which now serves as the gym's refreshment corner complete with a bar table and stools.
Bea explained the gym's floor-length mirrors, "So I could see my form as I'm working out.
"Yun talaga yung kinakatakot ko, to work out on my own and not know really what is the right form. Kasi it could lead to injuries and we don't want that."
She has also placed several plants to make it more "relaxing."
Bea adds, "I want to be able to breathe whenever I'm here."
The anteroom, which can only be accessed through the home gym, is now a spacious yoga studio.
It has its own sauna and lavatory.
