Empress Schuck is celebrating two milestones for her milk-tea business King's Cup Blends: (1) it will celebrate its first anniversary next month (2) it now has five branches.

From its first outlet in Farmer's Market, Cubao, Quezon City, it reaches as far as SM Hypermarket in Las Piñas.

During the interview of PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) after the ribbon-cutting ceremonies, Empress revealed that her business partner Andre Lim lives in the area.

"First of all, dito nakatira si Andre. Very accessible sa kanya. Saka, ayun, company-owned nga. Malakas daw ito. Marami raw tao ang area na ito, kaya perfect siya.”

This 2020, their target is to open 20 branches.

Andre disclosed, “Target natin, sana 20 or more than. Kaya pang-fifth na natin ito. So, soon, magkakaroon na tayo ng sixth branch.

"Yun ang pinu-push namin. Sana, February. As soon as February, ma-open namin iyung U-Belt branch."

FRANCHISE OFFERS

Since the business partners opened the brand for franchising opportunities, the offers kept pouring.

Empress gushed, "Ang dami pa rin nila! Hahaha! Iyun nga iyung pinag-usapan namin ni Andrei.

“E, mahirap talaga iyung location. Kasi nga, ayaw naman naming mag-open lang nang basta-basta...

"Na may available nga pero hindi naman iyun ang gusto naming location. Kasi nga, sa traffic, ganoon.

"So, inaaral talaga muna namin bago namin kunin. And so, isa sa mga challenge namin ngayon is the locations. Medyo mahirap pa rin.

“But then, it’s improving naman. Kasi eto nga, kaka-partner lang namin with SM, di ba?

“So, yeah, ayun. Yung U-belt naman, cafe na siya.

"Pero King’s Cup Blends pa rin ang name ng store. Mas malaking space. May tables and chairs na rin. Puwedeng tambayan, ganyan.”

BRAND IDENTITY

Since milk-tea brands continue to mushroom all across the metro in response to the growing market clamor, we asked Empress what their edge is over their competitors.

“Well, ganoon pa rin. Binibida pa rin namin iyung gold flakes namin. Kami lang naman ang may ganoon.

“And ayun, locally made kami. Lahat ng mga powder namin, syrups namin, kami rin ang gumagawa,” she said.

Have they met or exceeded their return on investment (ROI) targets?

Empress confirmed, “Oo, naman. Ano lang naman, kailangan lang paikutin. ‘Tsaka, huwag galawin para hindi ma-ano, mawala. Oo, hindi ko ginagalaw iyun. Lahat kami, ayun ang ginagawa namin nina Andrei.”

Do they also have other branches outside Metro Manila aside from Baguio City?

"So, kung wala kaming mahanap, wala kaming mao-open, di ba?”
