KC Concepcion says living alone under quarantine feels a lot like going to "boot camp."

The actress-turned-entrepreneur has been living on her own for 17 years, but KC says being in quarantine is an entirely different situation.

And she wasn't prepared for anything like it.

"You know, I've been living alone for 17 years since college," the daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and dramatic actor Gabby Concepcion told celebrity host and good friend Tim Yap.

KC appeared on Tim's livestream talk show on May 23, 2020.

"I lived alone in Paris when I was turning 18, and then I got home when I was turning 24, and I lived independently since then.

"I thought, 'Kaya ko ito!'" she said about going into quarantine.

"Pabibo pa ako nung first month, like super pabibo... And yet I craved human interaction."

KC said that being an "introvert" and a "homebody" helped her cope a bit better than others with staying in the house for an extended period of time.

But every now and then, she said she sought conversation.

"I think iyon iyong pinakamahirap sa lahat, more than iyong gawaing bahay," she said.

"I think the hardest part is the mental, psychological challenge.

"I thought that I was mentally strong."

March and April were difficult months for KC, and by May, she admitted, she was having panic attacks.

"I was told it was normal for people these days [to have panic attacks].

"Somebody told me it's more abnormal for you not to have anxiety right now.

"It's not natural for people to be locked in their homes and to be 'socially distancing.'

"It's not natural."

To get her dose of human interaction, KC took full advantage of social media and video-conferencing apps.

She talked to loved ones more often and took the time to interact with fans—or "fams" as she preferred to call them—through Instagram Live.

"Nung nag-IG live ako, nagulat ako sa lahat na mga nag-IG live with me. And that's how I cope!

"I keep close to people, and nakikipag-usap ako, and may time talaga na it's very hard to be alone kasi wala kang kausap at all!"

KC even took the moment to talk with staff working in her condo building by going out to her patio or going to the common areas of the building.

"It's educating me to, parang, open up to people, to also trust people more.

"It's nice. It felt like boot camp.

"It felt like quarantine bootcamp wherein you are mentally trained to be strong."

KC told friend Tim Yap on his livestream show, "I didn't expect all of the deliveries, all of the people who remembered me and sent birthday cakes.

"I was floored. It was really a celebration.

"I was so touched and just so full of love."

Her birthday was not a sad memory.

As she put it, "To be super honest, I loved it.

"I'm the type of person who always likes interesting experiences, out-of-the-box experiences, sometimes to my detriment.

"But it's something that I enjoy–doing new things."
